Now. Mr Stallman. Who cares if CCommons are not being used for practical purposes. For the first time we all have a world wide serious source of information which doesn't suck as Encarta did.
I wish RMS had better social skills. He would be taken more seriously by many people if he followed social norms regarding social contact. Grooming yourself during an interview is not only rude but also hygienically unsound.
@GalacticGuardian. If he followed social rules, he wouldn't be doing free software. Following rules social it's called conformism, it's to do what someone else want you to do without asking if it's allright. Of curse respect it's important in every stage.
Pay attention, he said "social norms regarding social contact", and it's clear that Stallman does not follow these codes of conduct. He ate the fucking skin off of his foot durring a lecture Q & A session. Distgusting behaviour for a gron man to do in public, in a school, in front of hundersds of people.
What the fuck does Free Software have to do with not being a filthy fucking pig while in public? Nothing.
As much as it may surprise you, you're allowed to shower AND use FOSS.
Stallman's ideas about Free Software is paramount aboVe his eccentric and odd personality! Some may say that he is "picking flyspecks out of shit" for his lack of support of Open Source development model. The reason is, in his mind, the freedoms and the community which springs up from Free Software are more important than the software itself!
Software without the four essential freedoms as described in the GPL, is immoral, and destroys the solidarity of our community!
at some point in the video stallman puts his hand in his armpit, and a minute later he starts smelling his fingers.. he's yawning.. too bad cause i support his views. :-/
He actually uses his left hand to scratch his right armpit and yawns into his right palm. Anyway that has nothing to do with his arguments. And how can you possibly think you can support his views commenting upon them with your nose up his ass?
This is the first time I have seen an interview where Stallmann has been down right rude and disrespectful. In case he doesn't know, not everybody in the world has english as their native language. There is a world outside of USA, and it wouldn't harm to show some respect.
Pah, he wants to respect my freedom to share sofware, but he doesn't want to respect my freedom to finish a sentence before he interrupts? come on!
I think you are alittle hyper-sensitive and Did you hear the message in the end of the interview? When he is thanking directly to the students from Torino? I've been computing teacher for 2 years.I can tell you what he does is what a teacher would do at a walk in park with his students
many geniuses are difficult to work with, and prone to outbursts. i suspect he is a pedant, and therefore, he would call out any suspect comments. as you probably know, he is more or less fluent in french and spanish (although his accent is laughable).
He's actually helping the poorly prepared guy to formulate his questions and sorting out misconceptions. I don't think it's rude to point out if one doesn't understand. And the argument that not everyone has english as their native language is completely out of context since the interviewer obviously has chosen to interview RMS in English.
You shouldn't mix freedom with pointless respect or inaproriate reverence. I think that's what RMS clearly states when asking the guy not to excuse himself.
You are an idiot. He made questions out of uttering none-sense. How many interviews have you given in you life? Oh zero, zip, nada? OK, that explains it.
So you're saying I shouldn't criticism anyone or anything anymore because I couldn't do the same or anything better? What kind of fucked up logic is working up in your mind?
All knowledge should be free

What breaks my mind is, how did he know that guy was going to apology. Maybe Richard is the oracle!!

Despite of the nervous of the interviewer there are really good questions.

This interview is really wierd.
I love it how rms gives himself a manicure before the interview, and even throughout the interview.
It's really hard to follow, because the guys english is so poor.
Some high lightes conclude:
4:11 - The yawn... You can even hear it. The guy in green seems to find it funny.
4:25 - "that's not really english..."
6:56 - "My what!?"
When RMS says "what", he sounds just like Andy (Larrys cousin) from a Curb your Enthusiasm episode (Smoking Jacket S5).

Sigh. I support his views because I release software under the GPL, is that good enough for you?

Yes, he interrupts, but it appears that it is only out of anxiousness to answer all the many excellent questions of the interviewer.

He didn't did this to these people because they don't speak fluent english. He always does it.
Search for "Richard Stallman interview bsdtalk132" in Google and you'll see what I mean.

Perhaps short questions, to the point and
phrased without ambiguous pausing would help...
