My grandmother lives in a small country town in canada, and a few weeks ago there was a black bear in the tim hortons dumpster eating donuts, And the workers took garbage out and the bear did nothing, it just stared at them waiting for more donuts. He went/goes there every night.

First off, Black bears do not go after people for no reason, if this happens, there is always a reason. Most of the time the reason is human induced (i.e. running away from a predator, getting inbetween a bear and food/cubs and not heeding to the warning signs the bear is giving, getting too close to the bear in a threatening manor, like pointing a camera at it)
Second bears do not kill people to eat them. We are not their prey. Incidents do happen but that is with individuals only
Actually the people screaming & getting up close to take pictures should be schooled. We have 2 cabins in the Smokies-YES WE are in THEIR AREA therefore precautions should be taken. Don't go visiting anywhere in the Smokies without disposing of your food and closing your windows. While most of the black bears aren't aggressive they can be. That should always be in the back of everyone's mind. While they seem friendly and nice they can snap in an instant and it's all because they are hunger

Really, the bear wasn't that aggressive. The tragic thing is when bears get into commercial dog food. Next thing you know they'll be covered with tumors, and who knows what else. First off, Black bears do not go after people for no reason, if this happens, there is always a reason. Most of the time the reason is human induced (i.e. running away from a predator, getting inbetween a bear and food/cubs and not heeding to the warning signs the bear is giving, getting too close to the bear in a threatening manor, like pointing a camera at it)
Second bears do not kill people to eat them. We are not their prey. Incidents do happen but that is with individuals only

Never approach a bear closely unless you've had training. Bears are wild animals and unpredictable.
Never feed bears, intentionally or not,.
In bear areas, learn how to store food. Trunks are harder to get into.
Bears can eat dog food/cat food just fine with no side effects.
Know the warning signs that bears give if you are in an area with them, and heed the warning signs
Remember, most wildlife attacks on people, are human induced, often because of stupidity on the humans part

Actually the people screaming & getting up close to take pictures should be schooled. We have 2 cabins in the Smokies-YES WE are in THEIR AREA therefore precautions should be taken. Don't go visiting anywhere in the Smokies without disposing of your food and closing your windows. While most of the black bears aren't aggressive they can be. That should always be in the back of everyone's mind. While they seem friendly and nice they can snap in an instant and it's all because they are hunger

i can't believe how stupid these people are getting so damn close to a Wild Hungry Bear. yeah, the bear seemed harmless enough, but that's only because he wanted the food that was in the car. I'm glad that wasn't my car. I'd be pissed. but I'd have to be more pissed at myself for the stupidity of leaving food in the car, and the window down enough were the bear could smell it. I wouldn't be so ignorant. all those idiots need to get far away before they get hurt. they're lucky they weren't hurt.

Really, the bear wasn't that aggressive. The tragic thing is when bears get into commercial dog food. Next thing you know they'll be covered with tumors, and who knows what else. It is not important that bears break into vehicles, etc. What is important is tht the food is above human grade. Also, the bear just might want to go for a ride in the car. never leave the keys in a car, I've seen many bears behind the wheel on I-95.

Correct me if I am wrong but so far I see lack of cooperation. "the car is not mine, why would I care?" is not my policy. We don't have wild bears in my country but I like watching vid's to see how you all deal with them.

How can people be so clueless? That bear can rip your head right off your body yet, all these people get close to it. Any scent in the car and the bears will tear into it with ease. Rangers must get tired of issuing citations and warning people and especially, having to put down problem bears.

That was my car!!!! I can't believe it. I was looking for a video similar to our experience to tease a friend with and lo and behold.... it was terrifying. I came back with my two sons who were 4 years and six months old after our walk to a bear in my car... kids crying...no one helping...we hadn't realized the window was slightly cracked....you should have videoed the aftermath where the park ranger was standing BEHIND my husband when the bear came back again....
