Yeah 6 mos. is average. The weather's a huge factor I hardly saw any rain except in Maine, which made things tricky in the south. I had to carry up to a gallon of water.

congrats man i hope to do this someday. how many miles did u hike a day and how long did it take you?

Thanks - It took me 4 1/2 months. I think I averaged about 16 miles a day. That's with about 10 days off.

But on days I wasn't taking off I probably averaged around 20 miles if that makes sense. It wasn't unusual to do a 25 mile day.

You can get there via USFS 42 from Dahlonega, GA.
