its called a sargester (sar-GEES-ter) grip. it puts the ring finger hole at a conventional depth and span length, which allows you to put the finger in to the second knuckle like a house ball. its a lyout for guys with too many revs. like rob smith, he uses it to keep his revs down on drier patterns.
Actually it's "Sarge Easter" (two words) in honor of the Pro Bowler of yore who developed it.
Interestingly enough, I've started using a similar grip style, even though my balls are drilled fingertip. What I do is insert ring finger ** PAST ** the first knuckle (almost like a "semi-fingertip") while keeping middle finger @ the first knuckle. This allows me to "rotate" the hand in the grip so the thumb is very comfortable, while still allowing the ball to rest in the hand.
that grip is called a sarge easter, its all about preference for the bowler. this drill can do different things for different people, such as lower/higher revolutions, to more or less axis tilt.
The grip that he is using is the same one Robert Smith used on tour until like 3 years ago. He was trying to lower his rev rate instead it created more forward roll and made the rev rate he had that much more dangerous.
Why do you wave your arm like that?

Helps put extra spin on the ball

@ecosnipers your 100% wrong, the sarge easter grip help takes hand out of the ball, good try though.

which ball is better the pearl or solid i am intrested in buying 1
littlepete92 3 years ago
Depends. The Pearl hooks later but enters the pocket harder... If you're a low-rev bowler go with the Solid, if you spin a lot go with the Pearl.
