SHE WAS EXCELLENT . SHE WAS 3RD ON THE BILL BEHIND THIN LIZZY AND U2 . OH WAT MEMORIES.
saw hazel in manchester last week still as good now as she was 30 years ago.lisa on keyboards was excellent but claire on the sax was awesome.thanks for great show ladies
This fab brilliant song from the beautifully talented Hazel is a true all time classic and yes better than almost anything song wise that anybody can now offer.
2 years before tron, 2 million times better. Phil Daniels 2nd best turn outside of Quadrophenia too. Great tune from a great film. In fact Im gonna amazon it.
fabulous vid - sends hairs on back of my neck on end - still. This was SO different when it came out - you have to listen to it in that context. 80's was a music revolution. It created dance, hiphop, electronica, metal, hair rock amongst many others. The fashions were... erm... bold but so was the era. I saw Hazel perform at Acoustic Festival recently. Still got attitude - still got the voice - still got it. I always thought she has that x factor something that just makes you watch.
Saw hazel live a coupla times after seeing breaking glass. Absolutely awesome!! Bought all her vinyl back then too!!
Going to see her in Torrington, north Devon in November. Can't wait.
As an aside...
After doing the support act at Leics demontfort hall, duran walked out past us through the crowd. Le Bon said( in an American accent) "remember us kid- we're gonna be big".
I only know her name because Duran Duran were her support in 1980.I read it in some Duran biography. She seems good and This video could be a video of 2011 is so cool
She's still singing, doing benefits and performing over seas. I get a newsletter from her via e-mail. I love her. she's so incredible. I wish everyone knew the lyrics to this song. I saw her in concert in early 80's, had to hitchhike from cincinnati to Cleveland to see her. i wasn't going to miss it.
This movie that this is from was released in 1980, a low budget British rock flick, Tron was released 2 years later in 1982, the similarities in the imagery can't possibly be coincidence. Tron -inspired by a low budget brit-pop vid! LMAO at Hollywood 'groundbreaking originality'!
Cosmic! Lol! I wanna buy this album now, brings bak so many memories- i was just dippin my toes in the big sea of the music world when i first watched this at very young age!
saw this movie as a kid and it's the only part of the movie that I can ever remember. makes you wonder if it was the inspiration for the Terminator movies! Or even The Matrix, come to think of it.
@drago0561 Gaga is a hard working creative little lady who respects all the talent in the word. So shut up! Hazel is amazing,so is Lady Gaga (im a fan of her since she was a brunette...so not the mainstream era:))
I remember the first time I saw Breaking Glass on cable here in the states back in 81 I was blown away by what I seen when this final scene came up. To say that anyone had seen anything like this back then is an understatement. Still love the movie.
@barjan1 That wasn't the final scene. They cut it for release in the States. In the full version she then runs through the underground train station hallucinating and ends up recovering in a hospital bed.
BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT part o the whole transformation from Punk into the 80s! Hazel - sexy as hell!!!!! Fuck anybody who says different you Keyboard Gangsters!! hahaha
Hazel-O connor was a fantastic singer in her time, Pittey the 70's & 80's music don't make a come back, at least you can understand what they are singing about. As for lady GA GA shes can't sing with out the help of a studio with parents with money, put her on a live stage, she would freeeeeezzze.
FANTASTIC! This is good old "real" music that stirs the emotions and that you can have a dance too.. not like the boring sterile manufactured rubbish of today.. eat your heart out Simon Cowell.. you and your X factor cronies have destroyed all this brilliant originality with your yankee type TV shows.. created to make you richer and the rest of us the poorer..
and as for the LADY GA-GA crap.. enough said.. she doesnt compare one bit to Hazel!
@whitewolf1963 Actually Hazel O'Conner (and pretty much every punky girl at the time) was ripping off Kate Bush. Heck, the character she plays in the film is called Kate. And the circuit-board design wasn't taken from Tron - because this was two years BEFORE Tron!
In the dark ages she would have been classed as a witch because she is so prophetic. She was so way in the future it's spooky.
Without her song we certainly wouldnt have had the Terminator films just for entertainment.
Machines have taken over our life but so many out there dont realise it. Paying bills - getting money out of the cash machine - online dating - the list is endless. What is scary though is that a computer somewhere is holding all our details and teaching other machines about us.
@Fawkhall so true. George Orwell once warned us about how one day big brother will be watching our every move. What scares me the most is that one day there will be a computer that will hold enough information on us to realise it has the upper hand.
