Xbox 360 disc wont spin

I have the same problem it makes them 2 buzzing sounds but never spins. But its only with certain discs. Like my Guitar hero disc works but not Oblivion or Bad Company. I dont get it. The disc are clean and scratch free.

what i did was i put my finger on the spinner and let it spin twice and then i tried a game and it worked . but word to the wise to all of you do not and i repeat do not turn you're xbox off while the disc is spinning while the tray is uncoverd , i lost my gears disc this way , call me whatever it was a first timers mistake .

Just happened to me 30 mins ago spins for a second then open tray? I don't know what it is now I just got a brand new laser installed yesterday...so I'm guessing it's the motor what should I do now? Any quick fixes? I got my buddy over and we had dual setup but my xbox is acting like a fat pussy I think its shy cause the brand new one that's currently here and running

I have a second Xbox im fixing, if you keep it open and place the lock on top, then when u turn the box on, u can manually spin the CD slow till it catches itself.

I have taken the motor apart and am looking deeper into this problem, It seems to be something with the magnets keeping it from spinning.

My current fix is 1 of 2 things:

first is the method i said before with spinning manually.

second method is to open the dvd drive motor and take out the washer-like magnet inside the dome part, doing this you must keep your xbox open and you wont have to spin it manually.

i have a somewhat similar problem. when there isnt a disc on the spinner it spins fine but as soon as you put a disc in it doesnt even try to spin...

If you've had your xbox for a while than its very likely that the motor that spins the disc simply burn't out. Electronics don't last forever and my xbox served a good 5-6 years. So for me its simply time to save up and get a new one and send my old one off with a bang... Next 4th of July will be fun! XD

you can also adjust the laser screw..if looking from back of xbox to fron ...on the laser on the left side on laser turn the screw just a hair counter clock wise...try cleaning laser lense and i used 3 in 1 oil on a Q-tip and turned over to let drain into the motor and mine works just fine..hope this helps

@dunndnn1 thanks but it worked for a week, re-adjusted the screw again over and over, no luck then replaced the laser scanner with a new one and worked perfectly. The scanner just went bad.

hi i have the same problem, i have established that is the MOTOR inside the xbox which makes the game spin (the round thing in the middle of the disc). best thing to do is get a lubricant like WD40 and use that on the motor and this makes it more slippery making it easier to spin.

you can knock with both hands on the top of the xbox where the disc drive is. works for me takes about under a minute.

@boomers089 The reason the disk won't spin is because there is small motor that spins the disc so the laser eye can read it .. depending on what it is .. it can be the laser eye that's causing it or it can be the tiny motor ... you can eather send it into xbox (with in a month of purchase) or try to get some one at a tech shop to try and do it .. or look on kijiji.ca or .com to try and get some one to fix it .. even look on ebay ..

Im getting the new slim to fix mine because I have the same problem. I heard of people sticking paper in the upper part of the tray when its closed and moving the paper from the to right a few times. I also heard people using compressed air on the console when its open to clear out any build up of dust.

I had this problem with mine. Try turning the left hand scew thats behind the laser slighly to the left (theres videos showing you how). I know this doesnt seem like a laser problem but this DID actually work for me. good luck

i have the same problem, its the lazer which is the faulty part.. i have a spare disc drive so i just swapped the 2 lazers over which has worked fine. hope this helps you!!

i just had the same problem. i manually spinned it a lot and turned it off for like 5 minutes.. came back to it spun it some more and it worked.. you gotta make sure it's loose.. i dunno if itll stay working but for now it definitely works fine.

2 thinks you my have to do. #1 you will need a new motor ($12.00 only) #2 is to open you motor then clean it. I put some fishreal greas in there so it wont overheat just a little. My work .
