for goodness sake---where is the video of 1998 Road America...Franchittis first win! I had four seasons of CART on VHS until a little raincloud called Katrina....
nascar is a retail festival with drivers as the attraction, not competition. same as a rock concert or any other two day festival! It is a simplified version of an otherwise archaic endurance of outlaws that has as much to do with history as it does motorsport. We Americans take our technology in electronics over cars. which is why we are a hardly a piece of lint on a backdrop of world engineering. besides all of our competitive spirit has been allocated to hip hop music!
i love f1, but i hate what cart/champcar has become in join back up with irl which at the time no one europe cared about nd still dont. cart/champcar was a real contender to f1 racing. just u americans prefer to see cars go for 200 boring laps on an oval turning left, can't ye turn right or is that a bit gay for ye. only what ye call rednecks like irl nd nascar, i stopped watchin motorsports in america when cart/champcar died.
obviously you dont know what your taling about because almost half the tracks the IRL race at are road courses and NASCAR will race at 3 road courses next year
jesus, is this commentator having a bj under the table or what!!!! how excitable!!!! i was waiting for the oh yes, oh yes, give it to me baby at the end!!!!
I was in the grandstands right across from this wreck. It looked like everything was in slow motion. This was also Bobby Rahal's last ride at his home town track before he retired.
That turn is very dangerous.... look at the videos of a bmw m3 and an aston martin dbr9 in another race at mid ohio just fly when they hits the bumps on the grass... I think some work here and there filling holes will make it safer....
A truly strange accident. Zanardi threw a HUGE block on Lehto, taking off his front wing end fence, which flew through the air and amazingly landed in PJ Jones's cockpit, temporarily rendering him unable to steer just as Andretti was coming past. They touched at 190+ mph and the rest is history.
Wow, don't think I've ever heard Danny Sullivan hit a note that high or loud before. In other news, good thing that Michael was alright. That was a violent one.
Michael Andretti, was so lucky... I watched the race by the way...
Only Zanardi had caused this crash! He took out 3 cars unexpectedly. Zanardi was fined and was stripped some points for the incident. This replay naturally gave Michael a real shock...
It wasn't for that incident Zanardi was fined for. In trying to get back into the top 12 on the last lap. he just barged his way past a couple of cars (at the same corner), and put them into the wall.
Andretti (Michael) should have given it up years ago.
Formula 1 experience proved he was pretty ordinary

I remember watching this live when I worked at the ABC affiliate in Lexington,KY. I thought Michael was seriously hurt, but was glad he was o.k.

A combination of balls and stupidity to weave through two cars so close to each other at that speed heading into a breaking zone.

@thestaggie I disagree, it was exactly the right thing to do, he just mis-timed it.

At 1:00, PJ Jones said ''What Happened to the Newman/Haas Cosworth of Andretti'' to Mark Blundell, the 1997 Championship contender.

The Andretti's dont have much luck on that track do they? because if you watched the INDY race there this year, Marco also flipped.
schumi246 4 years ago
