  • In a strip club...DJ played this song....25 years years ago and wore this casette out.

  • They all get down there at the Cabo Wabo and jam with Sammy right around his birthday.

  • man i soooooo miss the 80s wish i could go back.

  • I dunno. It seems to combine AOR's big, dramatic melodic bombast with the heaviness of the riffs and rhythm of Heavy Metal. Potentially Pop Metal or Melodic Metal is a good genre name here. Either way, its like Journey meets Scorpions meets Van Halen.

  • This is a very eavy sound, not a heavy metal type sound but a very well put together killer rock sound and Sammy's vocals are killer on this live track! Well done, great live killer footage of some rock greats!! Awesome stuff and amazing track!

  • This was my favorite song from this album. Wow what a great band from that time.

  • classic rock sound... killer! Schon cranks on the solo, Hagar sings the cheese and the rhythm section is solid as rock. KILLER!

  • thats how you used to hang up on someone

  • i was at this show as well, awesome

  • this band wouldve been awesome if it had lasted, much better than vanhagar

  • It's incredible how easy is to make an impresive song for Neal Schon. He's the king. You only have to hear this.

  • Sammy plays with anyone and turns out great music. Hagar has the ability to make great musicians even better.

  • Anybody find it a little coincidental that the initials of the members of Chickenfoot are HSAS as well? Hagar, Smith, Anthony and Satriani. :P

  • @TheHockeyCentral dammit.....mindfreak!!!!!!!!!

  • Neil Schon makes Ed VH look like an amateur.

  • @danzthaman62 hey dumbass are you f'ing serious? Neil Schon is a fine guitarist but nothing close to the ability of EVH...STOP TAKING DRUGS :)-~

  • @atomicfriendo You're probably a roth fan too. EVH was my favorite at one time. Then I grew up..... Go back to listening to the backside boys & instink and let the adults talk numbnuts.....

  • @danzthaman62 eat shit faggot

  • I was there! November 15th 1983 San Jose Civic Auditorium

    Great Show great memories!

  • Wasn't the bass player from Mr.Bigg and in Billy Idol's band?He looks familiar.

  • @1ssjesus Kenny Aaronson played for Idol. I do not believe he was in Mr. Big unless he filled in for Sheehan.

  • Loved this album, love this song. Neal Schon and the Red Rocker, what a kick ass match!

  • Sammy was really getting into the whole air-guitar thing. :-)

  • still have this in perfect condition on 33 rpm full high fi stereo, its still in the original plastic and on 8 track, had since new ! and still plays on my 8 track player,as does the 33 on my state of the art 1981 pioneer digital turn table, and yes i am working on a way to turn the hands of time back to around1980,im getting closer but cant seem to reach and maintain light speed long enough , more weed benson and hurry, fuck i miss the 80s,mtv sucks, everyone hates and weve lost ronald regan

  • @scoobydoabccba123

You are in luck my friend...With the help of Stephen Hawking time travel is now possible and I am heading back to the70's and 80's and staying....Anyone wish to join?

  • This was such an awesome record. I have to find this on CD.

  • @gonzogus Try GEMM dot com The website specializes in vinyl and out of print music. There was another company called Cherry something or other. It might have been Cherry Red Records but I'm not sure. They also specialized in rare and out of print stuff.

  • Neal should get back with sammy they sound great

  • Great album...

  • Would LOVE to have had more music from this band! Good stuff!

  • I've had a copy of this for years ! Big Sammy & Neal fan !

  • fuck red rockers ~~Neal Schon the shit!!!! Man One of The Best bay area guitar player around!!

  • Thank you for posting. I have a bootleg cassette of this concert and, I was lucky enough to be able to get ahold of the vinyl album a few years after they were no more.

  • amazing voice Sammy......great great band!!

  • I pretty sure It's still available for purchase (Geffen released in on cd in the 90s.) I have all of the extras (found on the net) that didn't make it onto the original lp and cd.

  • Awesome Neal! <3 Bev

  • I love the red rocker!!!

  • GREAT SONG. I still have this album on cassette tape and i still listen to it in my car.

  • Anybody know were this record can be downloaded? Can't find it anywhere.

  • Where was this at. I saw them @ the Marin Civic Center. My first concert ever. I still have the ticket stub.

  • Dam this song will always get mee starry eyed ! Dedicated to Sydnee . I'll always love you !!!.......

  • This stuff totally blows away Chickenfoot!

  • I wanna know where i can buy the cd.

  • Best band most have never heard of............

This may be my favorite band of all time. Neal and Sammy together is simply awesome. Where can you find this concert footage?

  • Best band most have never heard about. Where can one find this concert footage?

  • Sam is at his prime in HSAS.! He is at his best live! then and now..

  • I agree...but he needs to get himself back to Sammy....fuck all the BS shit that makes him this fat lazy fuck. He has so much talent.

  • AMEN! schon2112

  • NEAL IS MY Guitar GOD Period.

  • I enjoyed that! Love these guys!

  • Sounds like a Journey song.

  • It does have the sound of Neal but it definitely sounds like Sammy Hagar. You should listen to Standing Hampton or Three Lock Box. But I can hear the mix in the two artists.

  • neal tears it up on the solo !!!!

  • If this was the show in San Jose, I WAS THERE!!!!!

When Sammy gave the two-thumbs-up, it was at ME! I was dancing in the aisle, and gave Sammy a two-thumbs-up and he gave it BACK!

The whole audience was SITTING DOWN for the first part of the show. I danced down the aisle like a maniac and everybody in the lower level jumped up and never sat down again! LMAO!Sometimes it just takes a little gentle persuasion to get people to realize it's OK to have FUN at a concert! LOL!

    ~JA~ /|\

  • is that a cucumber down sammys pants or is he just pleased to see the audience!!!..AWESOME VID!!

  • Pants back then certainly didn't leave much to the imagination! So glad things have changed!

  • When you think of it, Chickenfoot is HSAS two! Hagar, Satriani, Anthony, and Smith! Even down to the instruments!!!

This was a great show. I remember it well. Still have a cassette copy of the show but wish I could find this on CD or as a digital MP3.

  • I got it on CD. Check out Amazon, that's where I got it.

  • Chickenfoot would be incredible if Hagar still had all the range and control that he did when he did the HSAS project.

  • HSAS was an awesome album. Sammy and Neal were so great together, and this was my favorite song.

    Thanks for posting!!

  • ...liner notes in my lp say it was very late 1983 and early 1984

  • This is the best I have heard Neal Schon sound on any album he's played.

  • Everywhere sammy goes turns to gold except for the teqela I think its ok I prefer Mezqal

  • I had a copy of this on CD a few years ago. I remember this from an MTV concert. The Cd was the same songs, but the audience was cut out...or at least, thats what the CD sounded like.

  • Isn't that a bit of classic Schon at 3:12 (ala Anyway You Want It)?

  • HSAS stopped, I think because Hagar hell no couldn't refuse Van Halen & so Schon started Bad English !!

  • Thats a bit too early for Bad English......Schon would have done the Journey Raised on Radio album and tour shortly after this ; )

  • @brox68 if he did'nt have neal schon that song would totally Suck!!! mr. Schon Kicks Ass !!!! on Guitar!!!!!

  • @frankiev1231 Schon is so under rated it sucks! He's awesome!

  • @brox68 Neil Schon isn't exactly a heavy metal dude. He was a part of the Hear 'n Aid collaboration. Was he in it b/c he jammed w/Sammy in HSAS?

  • @bucky468 Neal Schon is way too good to be confined in any single category. Check out his stuff with the band named, 'Hardline', and see for yourself what he could do as a metal guitarist as well.

  • @bucky468 You should do your homework on Neal Schon. He was playing with Carlos Santana at 15 years old and turned down an offer from Eric Clapton to join Derek and the Dominos. You don't get invitations at 15 to play with musical legends like Santana and Clapton unless you can play anything.

  • @nymetfans1

    not so

  • @nymetfans1

Lord I really miss the 80's

  • @nymetfans1 No, HSAS was never meant to be longer than a one shot project.

  • @nymetfans1

HSAS stopped because the bass player was a quick hire, and Michael Shrive, though legendary, was not a good rock drummer for this music and, frankly though is Woodstock solo on Soul Sacrifice is one of the greatest recorded, I guess he never really had any straight rock experience. Schon and Hagar should have kept at least some sort of projects together, even through his tenure in Van Halen.

  • Also, just another point on Bad English. Schon had nothing much to do with the formation of Bad English. Untold story is that he declined to join Bad English at the time, so the searched for another guitarist. They actually offered the gig to Andy Timmons (later of Danger Danger and just an awesome guitarist). Just before they set off to their thing, I guess Schon had a change of heart (guess he didn't have too much going on at the time), so they obviously took him in and discharged Timmons.

  • Just how awesome is this song? I remember having the album and a rather dodgy video of the concert many moons ago. This has just brought all the memories flooding back! the drawback is that I'm now feeling decidedly middle aged aswell! :(

  • man I wish I would of seen that

  • FYI, They only played a few shows. I think they were in San Jose, San Francisco and San Rafael. I saw both of their shows in San Francisco. It was early 1984, probably February or March.

  • wish these guys would reunite one time with Steve Smith on drums.awesome song!!!!!!!

  • Sammy can put bands together and make it work! He always gets great musicians to back him.

  • love this album..........

  • Kickass. Thanks for posting. I loved this band and I have always loved Sammy.

  • wish i had this concert on DVD. has always been on of my favorite CD's.

  • Great song.. kicks ass.

  • Hagar is an ultimate frontman ad Schon just kicks a**

  • Man, this song kicks ass!

This is the coolest-looking band ever assembled.

  • try best buy

  • I wish itunes would get this.

  • Being deployed this song really makes me miss home....

  • Van Halen and Journey are my favorites music bands and ear theme togeter is amazing!!

  • This is art. By far the best thing Sammy did. I would say that for Neal, but that mofo is on fire 24/7.

  • Ive got a great cd of this show in its entirety. Schon rips it up. It has several songs that did not make the LP.

  • Man this song was the shit back in my HS days...

sammy and neal need to do a reunion tour.

  • what was the name of the lp these to made toheter?this is great AOR!PEACE

  • HSAS Through The Fire

  • Kenny Aronson (bass player) is a Beast!!!

  • this is my favorite song ever!!!!!!!

  • Ok, DORK!

  • This song reminds me of my boyfriend _ hes a huge sammy fan!

  • He's in Ohio - MISSING YOU!!!! MUAH!

  • DUDE!!!! I totally remember watching this concert on MTV!!! Thanks for posting!!!!

  • Was Neil Schon part of every rock band in the 80s or what?

  • Brings back bittersweet memories, god I loved her

  • Went to the ends of the earth...well actually Japan anyway :D to find a copy of this CD. Awesome music !!

  • I'm in the UK ..i got mine from the States for a few dollars...LOL.

  • @brox68 I hactually have an original vinyl

  • Giza/Valley of the Kings does most rock!!!! this was probably one of the best ideas of early 80's rock and roll. as gay as it looks, at the time and still now KICKS FUKN ASS!!!! rock on Sammy :)

  • great song hell ya

  • What is so cool is the fact that Neal Schon and Michael Shrieve were in Santana together and played at Woodstock in 1969.

  • Yep. And if I'm not mistaken, wasn't Neal about 15 or 16 years old at the time? God, how cool would it be to play a show like that at that age?

I really like this song. I wish someone would post "Giza/Valley of the Kings" from this show too. Neal's guitar work on it is so heavy and just killer. I have it on VHS but don't have any way to post it here or I would.

  • Schon didn't join Santana until their third album, which came out in 1971. Woodstock was in 1969. Check out the movie - you won't see Schon onstage.

  • Oops, I think you're right. What about Gregg Rolie -- when did he join Santana? Did he play with them at Woodstock? Just curious.

  • FUCKIN BRILLIANT.....that is as easy as i can put it!!!!!

  • "Sushi, slices of raw fish" is written in Hagar's T-shirt.

  • ヘイガーのTシャツ

    寿司 さしみ...w

  • One of the best of the 80's supergroup compilation projects. Sammy & Neal, that's obvious, but does anyone remember the other two initials of the HSAS.. Hagar-Schon-Aronson-Shrieve... I can't remember what bands the last two came from... anyone?

  • Kenny Aaronson...Bass...Derringer,touring band member for Hall and Oates,Billy Idol,Joan Jett and Bob Dylan.

Michael Shrieve...Drummer...early to mid 70s Santana....does alot of session work and composing.

  • How could you leave out Aaronson's stint with Billy Squier? He rocked that bass on the Stroke and My Kinda Lover.

  • He must have just been in the touring band....he is not named on the album?

  • That's interesting. I just remember him from the videos and the live shows. I never knew he didn't play on the album. In any case, he rocks!

  • Stop copping Ed, Neal!

  • Man I smoked a lot of weed way back then!Great tunes back in those day's!!!

  • This is such a great record. I've loved it all these years. Thanks for posting this! How did anyone ever get it in their mind that this was a "VH" audition??!!!

  • I still wait for you.

  • Thanks sw. Found it...

  • RTH was a Sammy solo song

  • Sammy and Eddie had the same mechanic. One day Eddie mentioned he needed a lead singer and the mechanic was like, call Sammy !

  • Thanks for posting !! Great song. Didn't they do a song called Remember the Heros. BTW Not an audition for VH. Joined them a couple years later.

  • That was Sammy solo...

  • No dude, Remember the Heroes was (believe it or not) Sammy with Mike Reno from Loverboy!

  • Awesome finding some HSAS on vid, b een one of my favorite little known releases going back to my vinyl collection. Anyone has anymore vid from the HSAS shows (especially Hot & Dirty, Top of the Rock, or Giza) I'd love to see it!

  • This was on VHS back in the day. I got a DVD dupe of this off E-Bay. All the songs from the album are on it as well as some songs that didn't appear on the album. Best 20 bucks I've ever spent on E-Bay.

  • Love this song!! Sammy Hagar and Neal Schon - a great combo to have on the stage!!

Thanks for posting the video. I have the CD and listen to it at least once a month!!!

  • Well, this was the Van Halen audition for Sammy Hagar because he had joined them shortly after this collaboration. But it really makes me think what would've, could've been if Sammy Hagar and Neal Schon had been together ever since by not going to Van Halen and Journey, respectively. It would've been very intriguing because I think they really had some great elements and chemistry here. Well, isn't life interesting?

  • HSAS was recorded in 1983. Sammy made another solo album, VOA, featuring "I can't drive 55" in 1984 and joined Van Halen in 1986. Before 5150 was released he made a final solo album due to his contract with Geffen Records titled "I Never Said Goodbye" So no, it wasn't an audition because at the time VH was busy recording their album 1984, which was released 1-1-1984.

  • awesome song !! i cant believe i actually found it here rock on !

  • thank you so much.you are the best.peace and keep rocking.
