I went to 2 of the 3 dates that PJ gave in mexico in 2003, and I truly I can say thta never before or after I experienced such an amazing connection between the band and the crowd. This song closed the third and last gig. PJ played 3 HOURS. It wasepic. They played it all. All the classics, the new singles the who covers, neil young covers, beatles covers, improvisations, hungerstrike... I think that every PJ fan would die for been able to be there. June, 19, 2003.

Music, especially beautiful songs like this one, can take on much more meaning for us. For me, it's been almost 26 years since I lost the first, & 11 since the second, yet the pain still seems fresh. You can be carrying on like normal and then you'll hear a song or have a memory and then the bandage is ripped off and the wound is fresh; the pain is fresh, the memories are fresh. I will experience Christmas or just a simple fishing trip and see him sitting next to me and smile thru the tears at all the things we're missing together. For you, its double and I'm sorry for that. Great call! I never noticed how similar these two songs were. Trouble with the rip-off is who ripped off who? KWS's album "LEDBETTER Heights" where "While We Cry" was first released in 1995. Yellow Ledbetter was first seen as a B-side track to the single "Jeremy" released in 1992, though it didn;t debut on a full CD release until Lost Dogs, and I have it also on Rearview Mirror. Still....excellent recognition.
yup, Yellowledbetter was written earlier than While We Cry, or released anyway, but they both borrow a lot from Little Wing by Hendrix, which PJ openly admits to, so it doesn't really matter.
This song is one of my favorites, but how can the crowd sing along when nobody actually knows the lyrics? I'ver heard this 100's of times and yet I still dont know them.

I would say 85 percent of Pearl Jam song most people don't know what the f@ck they are about but they still rock!! Like I had no Idea Alive was about more than a son finding out his dad was alive...nor did I know that Footsteps is a 3 part story along with Alive and Once..

@charmpkin I always thought Eddie had a cool look, but I wasn't crazy about the short hair. I went to a few dates on this tour, and at one he was wearing a jean jacket and sunglasses. That with his short hair made him look like an 80's cop show villain.
He really should go back to blonde.

I would say 85 percent of Pearl Jam song most people don't know what the f@ck they are about but they still rock!! Like I had no Idea Alive was about more than a son finding out his dad was alive...nor did I know that Footsteps is a 3 part story along with Alive and Once..
