Miao reclaiming China? That could happen, actually, but the stars have to align properly first. Look at what happened when the Manchu came to power and overthrew the Ming dynasty! You strike during political upheaval. But for this to even happen, Hmong/Miao need to UNITE first. We don't even have experienced politicians and leaders, let alone military strategists. If we can't even deal with having a single New Year event in Fresno (there were two), how can we ever unite politically?
I'm not advocating an uprising. I'm saying that a Hmong/Miao nation may exist in the future, if China ever disintegrated politically. However, we first will need to survive long enough (ethnically) and not become assimilated to our host nations in order to live to see that day. And when it happens, hopefully, we would have had enough time to improve ourselves and build a pool of experienced leaders, politicians, military strategists, scientists, businessmen, etc. to build a nation.
Until then... I think you're on the side of the winning argument. Odds are very slim of any such fantasy. The PLA will crush any Hmong/Miao uprisings and we'll only lose more people that we can't afford to lose. We need to preserve our ethnic identity first and foremost, and then work on improving ourselves to earn our rights for self-determination. Even if we were suddenly granted independence on a remote island in the Pacific, it'll probably turn into a bloody civil war.
It's clear to me that chinese and manchu should know that we san miao the descendant Chiyou lived in the main land of china long before the chinese civilized came, part of that country should be ours own. In Chinese's traditional writing, 苗, means Miao. Miao means barbarians, and that is how we Hmong are called by the Chinese today and the past.
