  • im definitely a mustang fan and will be buying my first terminator in a couple weeks, but i can garuntee you that evo had double or triple the money that the cobra had into it. i don't know much about evo's and the 4g63, but i do know you'll never need to build a cobra longblock until you've reached about 1300hp. don't know limitations for evo. but its definitely not hard to get insane power out of terminator motors, in MY opinion i would take the cobra anyday. no shit talkin, just my opinion :)

  • @tj306notch zolner pistons aren't going to last at 1300hp. sorry buddy, try again. a stock block on a termi is maybe good for 750rwhp. yes, it can handle a few hundred more, but the question is how long.

  • @recordbreaker5 well i know there have been some to make well over 1000 on the stock internals. but your right i don't know how long, maybe if you were easy on it. but i know a place by me built a cobra on stock internals that made 1060 rwhp, that was house of boost, i'm pretty sure that one hasn't been blown but they probably never drive it that much

  • @tj306notch i'm with you on some cobra's out there pushing over 1khp on the stock block. but the majority of them are built with better pistons i.e. diamonds, manley, etc. Zolners aren't bad by no means just not popular for hp levels in that range. some owner even put I-beams vice the H-beam manleys (excellent rod) that are stock in there.

  • I think I know what the problem is here. You have a 3800+lb car with 675whp, running a 3200 lb or less car running 850whp.

    The reason why the EVO is having so much trouble is because the cobra has a much broader powerband than the EVO. AMS tuned this car to be a dyno queen, not necessarily looking at 1/4 mile times, or actually a USABLE powerband. A 42R IMO is too large to be running on a 2.3 stroker that's probably redlining around 8-8500 rpms. Point in case...Usable powerband>dyno queen

  • @cantbsdave Well unless they are using stock internals, or running a horrendous tune, then I would say for a while actually haha. As long as they're running a strong forged bottom end, an efficient cooling system, high octane fuel, and a good tune, that car should last for a while...even at around ~1,100 crank horsepower

  • what was wrong with the evo? turbo lag cause of 38 psi and a big turbo maybe? kept missing gears too?. the tt cobras v8 spools its turbos fast. not bad for a 6500lb car on 15-18lbs of boost compared to the 38psi and 850awhp, 3200lbs evo. If the cobra had say 22lbs of boost i think the evo would have not been able to pull at top end. both really nice cars.

  • @2004KB281 well it was 18 psi vs 38psi. having twice the boost madeup for the 4 extra cylinders the cobra has.

  • @Cisco121490 18psi on stock block with some bolt ons vs a fully built motor with 38psi. stroke the ford and run twin turbos on that cobra and you'd be seeing over 1000rwhp and that cobra would take a shit on that evo. flat out evos suck and need shit tons of boost to even be quick.

  • @suprbird : That was a twin turbo cobra man. No doubt that cobra could make some power, but that Evo was dogging it and certainly not running 850 whp. There are alot of people on you tube that quote a race gas number and highest power level for a car than it is actually running during that race. If that evo indeed had 850 awhp it would be a low 9 or high 8 second car!

  • @ls1eater : Yeah, after watching this race again, I do think it was making alot of power... maybe 850 awhp... But not a good-difinitive race here by either car. Obvioulsy the Evo was pulling hard when there seemed to be any race, but the cobra clearly has a better power band. This race could have been close if there was a good one despite the big power difference give to the Evo.

  • the car has ran for 2 years a year on the 35r setup and a year and a half on the 42r setup his motor blew and he sold the car...during this race the car had misfiring and had motor knock so he let off... he is well known around the net watch his 35r setup matter of fact put in Chris's Evo and watch his vid

  • Plus read the description of the cobra, 03 cobra, HP twin t57's@18psi......675whp at 15psi. This cobra was probably making over 700hp in the video. Both cars are sick.

  • ANY RWD with the right suspension and tires WILL KILL an Evo off the line. That is why the fastest drag cars are RWD, think about it. 38psi is plenty but a 4g63 can support 40+ easily. a 850hp cobra vs a 850awhp evo, results? Watch what this car at 601awhp was doing against 600+whp cobras. Problem solved. Only one good race that showed what should have happened, the 3rd race, Chris' evo was walking away, driver mod needed and there wouldn't have been a race.

  • i have an 03 cobra myself....i love it and everything but if that race was off the line then that terminator would have gotten terminated lol, my friend had an MR and off the line those things are undescribable
