Have you tried using an RC car battery pack? Similar in price but may be less weight, just modded my Swarmfire to take one, the batt cost is similar ors a little higher depending on what you buy, but I already have several for my RC cars, haven't tested longevity yet.

Do you know that there is an air release hole on the stampede? It's on the front of the plunger head and you can see it as well on the back of the plunger head. It's pinprick size so I would recommend hot glue or epoxy. :)

drac, there is an air release hole in the plunger head, i think. also, u should be carefull when adding a stronger spring. some people have had trouble where the gears get chipped, trying 2 move a heavy spring. also, if u increase the voltage, u get a faster , but weaker motor, so it'll hav a high rate of fire, but less range. it's hard 2 get a good balance.

Speaking of the spring, the stretched out 52 is one of the best springs you can use in the stampede. Fits perfectly, has great compression, and pushes out a LOT of force.....of course the recon I sent to you HAS a stretched out 52 in it, so feel free to take it out and play with it! its damn powerful, yet has never caused any problems for my internals (it really does require 1-2 layers of padding however). Just to close, Love the wiring work! its the one thing I ignore in my stampede work.

The spring I love to use is actually too strong for 12V of power (reliably that is), so I use something else.....14 Rechargeable AA batteries. 4 packs at wall-mart coast 8$ each (*3) + one charger pack that comes with 2 extra AA's (about 12), totaling out to about 36. its pretty light, reasonably cheap, and pumps out 14.8V's, and recharges (abit very slowly and tediously, its greatest weakness)

A word of advice, but I prefer to use the stampede on missions. I love the swarms insane spread, decent ranges, reload-ability and versatility of ammo, but it has a few major problems. Its accuracy beyond 20 feet is terrible....and it can blaze thorough ammo faster than any other primary, and tho it can be reloaded on the fly......it has a fairly slow reload time vs a clip. I carry my swarm fire in a shotgun pouch and use my stampede as a primary (with a blowgun)
