How can you have seen the Invisible Children movie and you still don't believe our country should get involved? Yes, I've read all you've had to say about economy, politics, and the counrty being stretched thin, but there are children dying!! Individuals can contribute a lot, but unless our goverment steps in to stop this war more children will die. That's it. To me all of those arguments are just excuses not to get invovled. I completely agree with this video.
Americans need someone to speak for them. George Bush doesnt represent America. If we truly had someone EVERYONE liked. Even minorities, USA could truly be the greatest country in the world. It is up to the citizens to help the government. It is up to the people to elect the president, governors, mayors, etc. Once people know how to use their power, then the world is gonna be a better place.
I just want to let you guys know that I think you are doing something amazing. I am from San Diego and if I were in the states still, I would be there with bells on. Don't let those ignorant comments get to you. They are part of the reason the rest of the world looks down on Americans. "If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem".
im not an ignorant asshole. perhaps an enilightend asshole. to ask the government to help is dense. never works. when in history do you see a time it works? never. now we create jobs there, thats a different story. assault the big corperations to create jobs there. if their gonna outsource us, they might as well benifit some one else.
america has too much of its nose in other peoples buisness, though we may have the power to help, the truth is if we dont place ourselves at top priority, we will fall back with everyones else, then, who will help?
America is the most powerful country in the world. We should help people, why not? If we help people in Uganda it isn't going to make our country topple. We spend billions of dollars on all sorts of rediculas things, we can afford to give a little aid to the rest of the world.
funny. people liek you said the same thing about iraq and afgahnistan. that the oppressed women, and the harsh rules and the genocide goin on over there needs to be stopped and that the proverty needs to be quenched. its bee 3 years now in the war, nuthin has really improved. gotten worse actually. and people hate us more.
do you know how afgahnistan and iraq used to be before america and the soviets came to it? it was a vacation spot, parrallel to havana. it had hanging gardens. palaces, aristrips for sight seeing, pools everywhere, cafes, librarys, bazzars, the place was clean, fun, as a vacation spot should be. then the soviets and americans came and had their lil war on their land. when the dust settled, afgahnistan was left as it was as you see today.
people scared of developing beyond city limits because of landmines, militant factions, food shortages.. the place lost its one source of buisness: tourists. we bring in contractors, create jobs and develope to make it a vacation spot again, brilliant idea, as a matter of fact, a few intellegent americans individuals are at it right now.
my missionary uncle is trying to turn a former land mine into the old golf course it used to be in hopes he can create buisness through tourism. shame the mines are everywhere and finding them is a daunting task.
dont wanna be cruel but a war in iraq, the major trade deficit, the major debt... if the american government thins itself anymore, we're gonna lose it. there will be a third great depresson. if we wanna help em, civilians can do it, whether they die or not is up to their own people. if any group of people cant figh back to save themselves they dont deserve support form an outside source
Unfortunatly it is people like you that add to the problem. America is very well to do, we have such small "problems" compared to the rest of the world. If you were dieing wouldn't you want somebody to help you? If you were drowning wouldn't you want somebody to throw you a life vest? Well, maybe they would just think that you should take care of your own problem.
so we can cut short on OUR "small" and hurry up and then tend to theirs. no matter how much heart we have, we can take a horse to the lake but we cant force it to drink. these guys dont want us there. we cant force them to change within the day like that and they dont like feeling that they must depend on another country. it hurts their pride and to any person, their pride is worth more than their own life. take it away, and its like degenerating one to the equality of an animal.
the government is stretched to the bricnk of destruction and we have the worst debt america has ever had right now. if you want tot help, dont jump in as a philanthropist and just offer free things, offer something more, economical, something even the people there can use to help themselves more without having to throw away their prides and hopes in their own country.
talk to the corporations. walmart paticulalry ruins us economy and quality of life, they might as well help over on the other side if they arnt gonna help us. tellt hem to creat jobs over there and maybe bring some economical hope.
If its like this for every group I wonder how well you'll fair. Its like sayng no to govt aid, anything helpful.
but some of us have heart, and empathy, and we choose to make a differenc or try. So we will be the voice of the mute! & thank God we've had people like this in the past if now I wonder how many few ethnic groups we'd have.
the problem is, its not liek this for every group. its easy to show sympathy and cry out for support. carrying out that task is a whole different boat. ever seen ghetto LA or georgia? ive seen shit goin on in america parrallel to what you see in africa.
there's bad everywhere & there are many causes to fight for. I just choose to pick one, and now, i see this as the one of the most horrible in which i can actuallly make a difference they're kids, maybe that's what hurts.
i do not object to helping these people, neither do i think its stupid to. its philanthropic and it upholds the values that america lauds as what makes our country great, but our governement has its limits and i beleive there are certain things that america, politically, needs to keep its nose out of. this being on of them. as individuals, great, knock yourselves out. do what you can to help those people.
if i can make a difference in one persons life, be it a smile, or happy day, I'll take it, even if it seems minute to the proportion.
Because I know what it feels like, for a stranger to help you on a bad day, or when everything feels horrible u see a light of hope. I choose to help no matter how great or futile it might seem.
this is your opinion and your beleif, if you beleive this is the most pressing cause to fight for, do as you please. i am in no position to barr you from proceding to help these unfortuante people, i am, however, a tax paying citizen and the entire countrys debt, economy, and political situations affect my life and ever other citizens life as well. should the government hop in on this and perhaps stretch itself beyond its limits, america as a whole will feel it. both supporters and naysayers.
Yeah, well this is the land of opportunity, people here can make a difference, change their lives, however slow and long that might take them. The people and children over there HIDEEE. They hide from rebel armies who brutally murder hundreds and thousands. And where in Los Angeles is that??? Oh wait....
ive been in both places. the govenrment cant do shit even if they got involved. who CAN do something are the corporations. without jobs, people gorw restless and need sumthin to do, say rape, murder, gangs.. ect.
WITH jobs, they have a purpose, they have a steady, secure life to depend on where they may see a safe way to live a peaceful life and riase a family without worrying abotu the next days meal. askthe corporations to out source there and the place will get plenty better. the government cant do anythign here.

Yeah, thats why the stock markets are hitting all time highs. Man, you have some great sources on information, not!
And They are kids, how in the hell do you expect them to defend themselves against and AK-47??
Someone else has to come help them.
And Wal-Mart creates jobs and keeps the markets competitive, everything a capitalist society needs, moron.
