I praise the show for being unique in having well developed characters who stray from typical archetypes and instead deconstruct them as they are stunning portrayals in the darker side of the human psyche (far from the cliched anime hero archetypes like the characters from DBZ, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho and such). But damn, some part of me wishes the franchise were happier and the characters were not as damaged.
