  • does her whistle sound like a reading 6 chime? The whistle on strasburg railroad #90?

  • @fretdemon123 That whistle was on loan from the Southern Ontario Locomotive Restoration Society windsor chapter, removed from CN 5588

  • where does this steamer run??? what State???? and what is the steam schedual for it....

  • @pianomanmaestro Owosso Michigan. It is currently down for it's 15 year inspection. I have heard it should be back up mid to end of 2012

  • Simply AMAZING!!!

  • The Canadian steamer's whistle dosent sound right on 1225.

  • I live near Windsor been around 5588 most of my life, great little 4-6-2, big drivers, but no stroker haha. Nice to hear her voice, maybe one day will get to hear her stack talk as long as they get some muscles at the foot plate haha

  • @jay600katana you should email we are looking for people that want to help us with steam Anthony@CNR5588.org

  • thats a show right there

  • The previous whistle or original one sounded terrible. This one makes it sound like it should have come with it!

  • well fiddlerpin, you would have to travel to Canada, this beauty of a whistle belongs to CNR 5588 waiting on restoration in Windsor Ontario

  • Ill agree with you that the original PM whistle doesnt sound good at all. But CNR 5588's whistle just is SOOO beautiful! And 1225's crew wasnt afraid to exercise in this vid now were they?! haha!

  • Yes!! Finally someone who agrees with me!!!! That origional whistle sounded like it should be mounted on a tank engine! Big Locomotives need a awesome whistle.

  • @GrandPrixGTP02 -- 5588 sat there for 47 years, they gave it a work out but she sure put on a show, its the best whistle I have ever heard and now it sits in my collection

  • @GrandPrixGTP02 There is no such thing as a PM whistle. The whistle that she normally wears is a Nathan 5 or 6 chime, same as NKP 765 (most of the time).

  • @PereMarquette1223 765 has a Nathan six chime that once was mounted on the original Nickel Plate berkshire #700. 765's whistle was destroyed before the rebuild back in 1979.

  • did the guy honk at ya guys so u woulkd move cus u were guna get steamed

  • Gotta love that CN whistle! It totally gives the 1225 a completely different voice.

  • Sure dose 5588 is sitting in Windsor Ontario waiting on restoration

  • Still did afterwards

  • Did the camera work much longer after that?

  • CNR 5588 has a very beautiful whistle.

  • Shes one beautiful engine too, sitting in Windsor Ontario,

  • I must agree. WHAT A FANTASTIC SHOT MAN :P Lucky guy

  • Winter and steam locmotives are made for each other.

  • What a beautiful sound that is, awesome! Great vid, and it gets a 5 star rate!

  • That IS one wonderful whistle! Beautiful minor 6th chord, unusual for a 5-chime. I'm gonna guess CNR, older one. A friend of mine had one of these, we blew it and it sounded just like this.

  • tbat is correct a CNR Standard off of 5588 4-6-2 built in 1911

  • Yeah, that IS a Canadian sound! And the driver is really quilling the whistle, best 5-chime quilling job I've heard in a long while. I am so glad that this video was made.

    I would love to hear a CNR 4-chime step-top!

  • whistle is awesome....anyone know its heritage? I saw a few video of this loco this season and it changes frequently. A+

  • the whistle is off of CNR 5588 a 4-6-2 sitting in Windsor under restoration

  • Jeez the people in Owosso must love hearing that all weekend.

  • Wow. Foamers sure get excited about condensed water.

But its still a great locomotive.

  • That was sweet!

  • hahahahaha that was so funny
