  • Stanley Kubrick is the greatest artist of our time!

  • So enigmatic.

  • It's interesting to hear the man's voice and to get such a candid impression of the man. He is one of those people that you can hear his mind thru his voice. What he says and what he means aren't always the same and you can hear his thoughts.

  • @JesusCristo2002 Nothing wrong with that, understanding the filmmaker makes you enjoy the movie more.

  • i can't find part 1 any help?

  • @mrazcr000 copy and paste and change the number to 1 it worked for me.

  • When was this recorded?

  • what secrets he took with him

  • theres only 1 problem with kubrick...he didnt make enough movies

  • Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman ruined Eyes Wide Shut. I can't watch it, and I love Kubrick.

  • @pretorious700 try it again! theres a reason he picked both of them! tom and nicole were both in scientology at that time and are both pretty fucked up in the head. and thats what this movie is about, secret societies and 2 really fucked up people. try it again.

  • @pretorious700 There's a reason Kubrick wanted them: They were Hollywood's couple at the time. The so called "perfect" couple. He asked them for this reason and the whole reason behind Eyes Wide Shut his Kubrick's thought process towards love and relationships.

  • @ JesusCisto2002 Wow I thought i was the only person who did that. Now I feel less guilty.

  • This what YouTube in for !! Amazing to hear such a youthful voice of the brillant Kubrick ! When was this interview done ? He sounds 30 although likely much, much older..

  • is that really Kubrick?

    sounds like Sellers.

  • is that really Kubrick?

  • This is a great interview!

  • I guess you must be a big movie buff and love his movies and so you love him. I also am fascinated as to what makes Kubrick tick.

  • great pictures.

  • totally owns the reporter at 4:11 hahaha

  • Am I nuts or does Kubrick's voice sound eerily like the voice of HAL from 2001 in this interview?

  • Yeah I can hear that too - who played HAL's voice anyway?

  • Apparently it was a Canadian actor called Douglas Rain. But the female computer in 2010 was credited to a made up name and it was actually Candice Bergen...so I wonder if Douglas Rain was a made up name and it was actually Kubrick?

  • anger. another side effect of denial. you'll come to terms with yourself someday.

  • I am so obsessed with Kubrick, I search for him everyday on the web and in the library. What's wrong with me, I can't get enough of him. ( Am male by the way)

  • trying to say your ghey?

  • Have you seen any of the Kubrick film reviews by a guy named Rob Ager here on Youtube? They are brilliant and nuanced analysis of films based on their symbolic / subconscious themes. Check them out if you'd like to see even deeper into some of Kubrick's films. His reviews of other films are also very illuminating. By the way, there's nothing wrong with being drawn to genius. It shows you are moving into a higher realm of awareness. Exposure to greatness encourages your own. Good luck.

  • Off course, am a long time subscriber of Rob. But thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

  • I remember watching a couple of his reviews and not liking them. He seems too eager to make every good film a denunciation of America. The Shining, for instance, has references to every major western racial crime, but he tries to make it about only the the loss of American by the Native Americans (for example, by calling a polish hymn "an indian chant"). He also brings the American Constitution into it for fuzzy reasons.

  • yep...i think hes ghey...spelt ghey not gay

  • As much as I shamefully hate to say it, I'm exactly the same way, unfortunately I'm going through a bad phase where I'm searching/looking up rediculous amount of information regarding various filmmaker's work instead of simply WATCHING their work. I absolutely HATE it.

  • Hearing Kubrick speak about his work is just as valuable in my opinion. Especially if you've made one.

Click my name to see my work.

  • @JesusCristo2002

you do it because you LOVE it otherwise you wouldnt do it and btw this is wholly understandable because filmmakers are the most interesting people on the planet!

  • @JesusCristo2002 actually this kind of background is very important. look up the bio on sydney lumet.

  • @JesusCristo2002 I do this sort of thing. Kubrick was incredible

  • me too.

I think it is our fascination of being similar to him and the admiration for his creations. But there is nothing wrong of searching/looking up information about him. You discover new things about the movies you think you know. You see the real prespective and outlook of his ideas. (as I noticed, he has a huge business approach to directing and it is somehow parallel to his artwork)

  • @JesusCristo2002 It's all good, bro. Just smoke a joint and watch one of their movies.

  • @detriplea He's fantastic...The thing with him is the quiet that surrounds him, that is strange to us, but in his case is because he is a Grown Adult. He didn't do interviews incessantly as a publicity-hungry media hugger, he only spoke when he wanted to talk. Consequentially, to most people today, there seems to be little to look at or talk about around him.

"You have to have patience, or your own frustrations prove to be to much of a distraction..." 6:05

    "I keep thinking." 6:40

  • @detriplea You're not alone. haha.

  • @detriplea Holy shit same with me

  • @detriplea Obsession isn't always sexual....it rarely is actually.

  • @detriplea he's worth paying attention to. he did what every big director says to do: grab any camera and start making anything you can. keep on going. these days with flip cameras it's almost free.

  • @detriplea Believe I know what you mean lol

  • @detriplea Maybe you are an obsessed homo as well.

  • @detriplea me too.

  • @detriplea u are not the only one. i cant stop thinking about him. and i try to spread the gospel of kubrick and his visions to my friends but they are so stupid to say his films are shit.. He is infact inspiring me to become a filmmaker. Being an Indian with all the bullshit films i saw in bollywood i never respected films only wen i saw kubrick's movies i felt amazed.

  • @karunalism

Well keep up the good taste Karunalism....I hope to see one of your film one day.

  • @karunalism Right on brother. Kubrick is inspirational, he goes so deep into the subject...which is what we want right.

  • @detriplea

Kubrick has that effect on people. I was obsessed with him in college.

  • @detriplea You might be gay!
