  • So change the name to "The Fastest Electric Jeep in Canada". That should stand until Chrysler comes out with theirs. :P

  • Maybe the fastest in the World or even Universe.

    Thanks!

  • Nice chick :)

  • lol

  • Thanks.

  • For those wishing to see the Original 1976 Electric Jeep it will be featured at the Barrrie Georgian College 23rd Annual Auto Show as a working interactive display. Sept 19-21,08.

    Hopefully lots can attend.

    Thanks for the update Glen.

  • I don't see any chicks..

  • Just because it is a magnet doesn't mean it can hold on to things forever. Have you seen a picture of me????

  • Magnet? hu? anyways, no I haven't seen your picture, but if you were one of the girls in the vid, I stand firm on my statment.

  • No I'm the old guy.

  • cool.

  • 54 volt motor is what they used on 1976 postal jeep. we used an advance 9 motor.

google Evamerica, Canadianev, or EV parts to see what is included in a kit.

  • what kind of 54 volt motor?and what else would i need?

  • hi ahhh actually your wrong in a sense your jeep was the first -0- emissions ev . i got copy of manual and odd this electruck had a fuel tank used for gas ,had a gas burning heater with a exhaust pipe for fumes .odd set up had a coil spark plug fuel pump 4 heater assembly not 0 emissions .lcalarea47

  • Yessss!!!! Won by a technicality.

Thanks for the good fun info.

A good lawyer could make hay with this tidbit.

Looks like Craig and I are off the hook.

We will use the lawyer fees we now have saved and put them toward making sure these electric jeeps (from what ever epoch) will not become extinct again.

    Mike

  • It's right hand drive!A British jeep!!!

    Ha only joking!,nice vid,keep us posted eh>

    Cheers!

  • Keep you POSTED ????

    Pun intended?

    Thanks for the complement.

    Mike

  • DJ5E were recalled in 10/12/1979 by AM GENERAL LLC because "a flaw" was detected, so they say:

A M GENERAL CAMPAIGN NO N/A.ELECTRUCK 1/4 TON U.S.POSTAL.POSSIBILITY THAT VEHICLE COULD EXPERIENCE UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION, RESULTING FROM AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE.THIS COULD HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER OR DURING THE STARTING.IF THE SHIFT SELECT IS ENGAGED IN THE "FORWARD" OR "REVERSE" POSITION.(CORRECT BY INSPECTING AND MODIFYING CONTROLLER SYSTEM).

  • Oh, i forgot! :9 Even if the alleged first "postal jeep" 1976 electruck AM General DJ5E Jeep claim to be the firt, they were released in 1975!! So that Jeep may not be the real one to hit the road first as a production vehicle, so the real one may be still rusting on a scrapyard ah-ah-ah... so you´re up to a lawyer but Glenn should go to a detective...a good one ah-ah-ah

  • Very interesting, do you have a reference for the year 1975 ?

  • yes!

  • Thanks for the info supporting our case.

I'm sure we all agree that which one is the first is not near as important as insuring that these are not the last.

Lets hope that Glenn's project will help catch the eye of the public and auto makers.

    Mike

  • Sure! Ya... :) i wish i have one for myself! Best wishes to Glenn's project and best luck for all of us... but dont expect that much from big automakers, you have heard from crushed EV1s, havent you? No hope there ... but we will prevail ... soon. Cheers

  • There may be hope yet.

Please read the following three parts of an article about Nissan.

    May 8th 2008

    From The Economist

Renault-Nissan's ambitious plans for all-electric cars Renault and Nissan will lead the car industry in developing profitable zero-emission vehicles.

  • Nissan plans to launch a battery-powered car in America in 2010 and by 2012 the Renault-Nissan alliance will offer a complete range of electric vehicles in every large car-market. And these new battery-powered cars, it claims, will work out less expensive than equivalent petrol models.

Mr Ghosn says the electric version of the Mégane saloon that Renault is building for Israel will come with a lifetime warranty, and payment will follow the model established by the mobile-phone industry

  • After buying the car, owners will subscribe to a battery-replacement and charging plan based on their anticipated mileage. Recharging will be done at one of 500,000 spots that Project Better Place will build and maintain.

When Nissan launches its new line of electrical vehicles in America in 2010, it will initially target fleet buyers, which can provide their own charging stations. "It will be a real business," says Tom Lane, Nissan's global product-planning chief,

    Mildly optimistic Mike

  • What should i say about the amazing EV2? You two were not hoping to have the first born electric jeep, were you? Electric cars are more than 100 years old now with trucks and all, still nobody have heard from them - nice work big oil have made! NOT ... BUT EV2 is still the first resurrected electric boy, so he´s also a PIONNER and quite a powerfull chick's magnet. My dad have one so i was born. EV2 rulez!!! :) hip hip hurray!

  • Thanks for the kind words and positive comments.

    They are always greatly appreciated.

    Mike

  • This sounds like a case of copyright infringement, our people will be contacting you.

  • We don't have a lawyer, so just have your people contact Craig to do lunch, Maybe at Timmy's. Please advise them not to be late.

    Take Care.

    Mike

  • funny! i live in toloedo ohio where both Jeeps were most likely built. how much did the EV2 cost?
