SU47 cant even compete. SU47 is a research aircraft duplicating stuff NASA solved byX29&X31 in 1978-1982 and also a few years later with further tests of extreme maneuverability and High Alpha F18HARV, F15ACTIVE, and dozens of other test beds. SU47 was a very weak design for a fighter..and was used to validate their theory that more maneuver&speed would be best 4 Sukhois real designT50, even if it cost stealth. That was a bad decision! F22 maneuver stats are classified and superior to even MATV.
Talk and speculation are cheap. The F-22 is already in service, and not to mention the US does not need to use them as primary fighters, just jets to maintain the situational awareness to the F-15's that go in and do the dirt work.

the russians just released there 5th generation fighter the T-50.. to be honest the t-50 doesnt compete what so ever.. the stealth signature is much lower, the raptor would detect it before the T-50 even knew it was there. the T-50 and f22 looks pretty similar.. interesting

@curevic Well within some areas. The F-22 will replace the F-15A/B and the F-15C/D, however the F-15E and the F-15SE will remain for quite some time. The F-15SE price tag lies somewhere around 100 million dollars if I'm not mistaken whilst the F-22 lies at 200-250 million. Replacing all F-15's with the F-22 would cost too much which lead to the F-15 being available in semi-stealth versions with some modifications on the body and the capability of internal bays.
The F22 would not totally take over the F15. The F15 can stand up to just about any known jet fighter out there, what would happen is the F22's in smaller numbers would go in with the stealth bombers to clear up the enemies air defenses then the conventional aircraft will come in. However that being said the F22 is here to stay, to have a fighter that has the capability to completely dominate all other known fighters and slip past radar installations is an incredible thing.
@atgskater14 well yeah the F-22 principle is too be a first strike aircraft, taking out enemy planes and radar stations before they knew what hit them to make way for other US forces. It works well in the roll of an air sovereignty fighter because it's fast, it has a big range, a big combat range and the capability to attack the intruding aircrafts due to stealth, speed, acceleration and superior maneuverability.

We're lucky to have as many as we do now. I think we will start producing more F-22s when somebody else starts to produce their 5th generation fighter. As of now, I don't think the F-22 has any rivals. That's usually how it works out, once somebody else flexes their muscles we will go back to doing what we do.
The F-35 will probably be our focus for some time since it's cheaper and will be more extensively used. That and we will export it to quite a few countries.
although the f-22 is the best fighter in the world, i think it should be modifed a bit to hold a greater armanment... i love the raptor, but more weapons are good too... and the f 35, those planes are going to built in mass, i agree with that cause then we will get more planes in the sky
More weapons is always good, but I think the F-22 has enough and more might hurt its performance. Ideally it will make 6 kills before even being detected. It's fine considering it will probably just be used to knock out threats to our F-35s.

The F-22 and F-35 are designed for different roles. The F-22 is an air superiority fighter designed to dominate a national air space. It's not just about the air-frame, it's about the avionics and weapons systems. Anyone that thinks the Russian fighters can compete does not fucking understand. But the war over the mid-east oil fields to come will splain it all very plainly.
I know that the F-22 is air superiority, but it's likely only going to be used when the F-35 is challenged by something of similar specifications like the EF. It's probably going to be utilized to take out the best the enemy has and the F-35 will take care of the fodder.
Russian fighters are pretty good too, but it's hard to judge what fighters like the PAK-FA are capable of. They are supposed to compete with the F-22, but I have my doubts.

Lockheed martin is infested with H-1B visas! After these foreign engineers create the weapons and propulsion systems for the F-22, they can either persue a green card or they can go back to there native country. The F-22 is an overrated, never flown, 360 million dollar piece of waste!
Even if we ignore all other capabilities, maximum missile range of the F-22 is 180-210 Klicks.
Missile range of R-37 is 400 clicks. Even outdated Russian interceptors can knock out an F-22 before it even gets within their and F-22's firing range.
The Su-27 is more maneuverable than the F-22 in magnitude, capable of executing a tight flip that takes 4 seconds, compared to the larger F-22 10 second flip.

American planes undeniably shoot down more Russian planes but with the aid of AWACS and saltellites and with inferior enemies (Iraq, arabs) therefore inferior trainings. F-15's engaged & shot down mig-29's in Bosnia, & Iraq. the Pak-Fa is currently only a technology demonstrator that has barely flown. & it may yet go the way of the SU-47, & Mig-1.42 in other words a dead end.
@sadekgheidan F-15 vs Mig-29 against serbs 9-0 to the F-15/F-16. The first a2a combat against the Mig-29 was 4-2 for the Mig-29. The F-15 smoked 2 and the other 2 ran. Btw the PAKFA 1. doesnt have its engines 2. is not a complete stealth aircraft and 3 just like the Su-30/35 has not been proven in combat, unlike the F-15 which has. The majority of the F-15/F-16 kills come from the IAF who were out numbered and still won handily.

@sadekgheidan Not even close. The F-35 has 6 IR sensors in the skin of the airplane which give the pilot complete sphereical awareness. It's sensor integreation makes it practically untouchable. For example if an IR SAM was fired from a hidden location. The pilot of most aircraft wouldn't even know he's being shot at, because IR missiles track passively. But the F-35 can detect the threat and point weapons at it immidiately. Giving the pilot time for evasive maneuvers and counter-attack.
@sadekgheidan The F-35 has a reduced radar cross section, and carries the lastest variants of the AIM-120 Amraam, as well as the AIM-9x off bore-sight IR missile. This makes it a formidable Air-to-air threat as well. The ONLY advantage the Su-30 has over the F-35 is maneuverability and the use of higher range russian semi-active radar guided missiles. SU47 cant even compete. SU47 is a research aircraft duplicating stuff NASA solved byX29&X31 in 1978-1982 and also a few years later with further tests of extreme maneuverability and High Alpha F18HARV, F15ACTIVE, and dozens of other test beds. SU47 was a very weak design for a fighter..and was used to validate their theory that more maneuver&speed would be best 4 Sukhois real designT50, even if it cost stealth. That was a bad decision! F22 maneuver stats are classified and superior to even MATV.

the russians just released there 5th generation fighter the T-50.. to be honest the t-50 doesnt compete what so ever.. the stealth signature is much lower, the raptor would detect it before the T-50 even knew it was there. the T-50 and f22 looks pretty similar.. interesting

@curevic Well within some areas. The F-22 will replace the F-15A/B and the F-15C/D, however the F-15E and the F-15SE will remain for quite some time. The F-15SE price tag lies somewhere around 100 million dollars if I'm not mistaken whilst the F-22 lies at 200-250 million. Replacing all F-15's with the F-22 would cost too much which lead to the F-15 being available in semi-stealth versions with some modifications on the body and the capability of internal bays.

The F22 would not totally take over the F15. The F15 can stand up to just about any known jet fighter out there, what would happen is the F22's in smaller numbers would go in with the stealth bombers to clear up the enemies air defenses then the conventional aircraft will come in. However that being said the F22 is here to stay, to have a fighter that has the capability to completely dominate all other known fighters and slip past radar installations is an incredible thing.

@atgskater14 well yeah the F-22 principle is too be a first strike aircraft, taking out enemy planes and radar stations before they knew what hit them to make way for other US forces. It works well in the roll of an air sovereignty fighter because it's fast, it has a big range, a big combat range and the capability to attack the intruding aircrafts due to stealth, speed, acceleration and superior maneuverability.

@atgskater14 but as you say, the F-22 will have a hard time being in any other place than its home base. The F-15 is easier to maintain, repair and cheaper. So in the event of a war abroad, America will most likely only use the F-22 for some special pre-empty missions and air superiority

We're lucky to have as many as we do now. I think we will start producing more F-22s when somebody else starts to produce their 5th generation fighter. As of now, I don't think the F-22 has any rivals. That's usually how it works out, once somebody else flexes their muscles we will go back to doing what we do.
The F-35 will probably be our focus for some time since it's cheaper and will be more extensively used. That and we will export it to quite a few countries.

More weapons is always good, but I think the F-22 has enough and more might hurt its performance. Ideally it will make 6 kills before even being detected. It's fine considering it will probably just be used to knock out threats to our F-35s.

The F-22 and F-35 are designed for different roles. The F-22 is an air superiority fighter designed to dominate a national air space. It's not just about the air-frame, it's about the avionics and weapons systems. Anyone that thinks the Russian fighters can compete does not fucking understand. But the war over the mid-east oil fields to come will splain it all very plainly.

I know that the F-22 is air superiority, but it's likely only going to be used when the F-35 is challenged by something of similar specifications like the EF. It's probably going to be utilized to take out the best the enemy has and the F-35 will take care of the fodder.
Russian fighters are pretty good too, but it's hard to judge what fighters like the PAK-FA are capable of. They are supposed to compete with the F-22, but I have my doubts.

The F-22 is an overrated, never flown, 360 million dollar piece of waste!
Even if we ignore all other capabilities, maximum missile range of the F-22 is 180-210 Klicks.
Missile range of R-37 is 400 clicks. Even outdated Russian interceptors can knock out an F-22 before it even gets within their and F-22's firing range.
The Su-27 is more maneuverable than the F-22 in magnitude, capable of executing a tight flip that takes 4 seconds, compared to the larger F-22 10 second flip.

All those kills the Eagles have made were outdated crappy Mig21's piloted by badly trained pilots. F-15's engaged & shot down mig-29's in Bosnia, & Iraq. the Pak-Fa is currently only a technology demonstrator that has barely flown. & it may yet go the way of the SU-47, & Mig-1.42 in other words a dead end.

@sadekgheidan F-15 vs Mig-29 against serbs 9-0 to the F-15/F-16. The first a2a combat against the Mig-29 was 4-2 for the Mig-29. The F-15 smoked 2 and the other 2 ran. Btw the PAKFA 1. doesnt have its engines 2. is not a complete stealth aircraft and 3 just like the Su-30/35 has not been proven in combat, unlike the F-15 which has. The majority of the F-15/F-16 kills come from the IAF who were out numbered and still won handily.

@Radun85 ok so the briefing the military gave and the splashing of the MiG-29's didnt happen? You're right, the MiG-29 is better than the F-15, forgive me. I know, the MiG-29's crashed because the pilots were laughing when they saw the F-15's they couldnt control their planes. You obvious dont work in the military because there is a standard 4 man formation that breaks into 2 2 man groups.

@BBEEAANN1 no it is true F 15 shot down 2 Mig's but u sad 4-2 for Mig's Over airspace Republica Srpska 2 our Mig's 29 (Serbian) try to sneak but awacs find them and...F 15's splash them! Mig have no radar no EWR(Beryoza)! One pilot is killed other was eject (Pilot Peric)! AND you no nothing about our war 1999.. u talk about some standard (hehe) in that WAR it was no standard!!! JUST TRUST ME

@Radun85 The F-14's were 2v2, yes the F-15 has AWACS support but, the F-15 doesnt need it to deal with a MiG-29. The MiG-29 was designed to deal with the F-16 and the only reason it stands a chance against the F-16 is high offbore sights which the F-16 block 50 now has.

The disgusting underestimating that some people do is very dangerous.
Overestimating or Underestimating your opponent both lead to the same results and what's happening now isn't good.
I don't see how F-35's are supposed to hold of PAK-FA's. They aren't even in the same league. Hell, Su-30's are already superior in terms of almost everything compared F-35's.

@sadekgheidan Not even close. The F-35 has 6 IR sensors in the skin of the airplane which give the pilot complete sphereical awareness. It's sensor integreation makes it practically untouchable. For example if an IR SAM was fired from a hidden location. The pilot of most aircraft wouldn't even know he's being shot at, because IR missiles track passively. But the F-35 can detect the threat and point weapons at it immidiately. Giving the pilot time for evasive maneuvers and counter-attack.

@sadekgheidan The F-35 has a reduced radar cross section, and carries the lastest variants of the AIM-120 Amraam, as well as the AIM-9x off bore-sight IR missile. This makes it a formidable Air-to-air threat as well. The ONLY advantage the Su-30 has over the F-35 is maneuverability and the use of higher range russian semi-active radar guided missiles. @thefullmonte03 (Su-30MKI - NATO Designation: Flanker-H) Even with the F-35's reduced RCS and more advanced version of the AMRAAM and Sidewinder, it is still no match for an airplane who can accelerate faster, can achieve and hold a higher velocity, is more maneuverable, can detect the F-35 and fire on the F-35 before the F-35 can fire (Even with the reduced RCS),
Look it up, I am not talking about the old version of the Su-30. As stated before, I am talking about the Su-30MKI. Check it out.

@sadekgheidan I have no doubt that the Su-30MKI can accelerate, and has a higher service ceiling than the F-35. However, your claim that "(Su-30 MKI) can detect the F-35 and fire on the F-35 before the F-35 can fire (Even with the reduced RCS)" is PURELY SPECULATIVE since neither the Su-30 MKI's monstrous NIIP N011M Bars PESA radar, or it's advanced electro-optical system has encountered an F-35 in combat, or a simulation. However, I am sure you are going to keep arguing. I'm not :)

@kallikusta didn't realise that the Mig-29 was a 1960's aircraft. & I didn't know Iraqis' flew for Serbia. the SU-47 was a one off aircraft. there were only a couple built, & none of them even had a weapon system installed. hard to fight a plane that doesn't exist.
