  • Excellent build my friend !!

I am starting to tweak my 77 iron head sportster. I want to convert the rear drum brake to a disc brake. Could you please give me the steps you took to get it done. It looks like the frame was not compromised. Send me the name of the parts you used Please!! Jason

  • @Ducati860GT The brake change is very easy. You get a Big Twin wheel and axle the one I used is frome an old shovelhead, that way you can bolt on the rotor, then all you need to do is weld the small tab on the frame that holds the arm for the caliper. I used a set of forward controls for a 1998-02 sportster but had to make adapter plates to mount them not very hard to do. It also has a 1 inch ofset sproket up front and a deep dish one on the back. The brakes are all GMA products hope it helps.

  • Nice bike!

  • wheres ur back fender at?

  • @MrSchroyer It was in the garage I had to reweld one of the fender struts on it, but its on in some of the newer videos.

  • Nice bike!

  • @RigidSaw Rigid, Sorry you didn't like the bike thats why its good it isn't for sale so I don't have to deal with other peoples taste, I built the bike for me like I wanted as my first bike so I thought brakes might be a good thing you don't have to run them on yours though. As far as the tassles and reflectors I might have left them on if this bike if it had them when I got it, since it was a in boxes no such luck. What kind of purse I need a saddle bag for my next project my 113" soft tail.

  • @harleyiron1977 Haa ha...good on ya, mate...just fucking with you...nice work (with or without the tassles) and even better attitude...keep it up! Would love to see you post some footage of ya rollin' off the throttle barreling down the road

  • who made the frame or was it a bolt/weld on?

  • @nmssis It is a weld on rear section for the original 1974 frame.

  • @harleyiron 1977 thanks...it's a sweet ride. when you welded did you keep the title as original 74 or had to change to "custom"?

I have a 79 trying to get it to look like yours but don't know where to start. but if it's not too much trouble where did you get the tail section and would you know the specs of the neck like the drag and trail?

and the back looks like you're running a 180 Thanks!

  • @nmssis The weld on hard tail section was bought from the VTWIN catalog but you can get them on e-bay also it lowered the bike about 4 inches and the DNA springer front end is a 2 under so the bike is very low. The rear tire is a 150 but you can go up to a 200 with the right ofset sprockets I used a 1 inch ofset drive with a deepdish rear sprocket. I am not sure of the drag and trail but the neck section is stock and still has the numbers on it so its titled as a 74 harley

  • @harleyiron1977 Thanks...be safe!

  • @harleyiron1977 Yes it is a weld on rear section..

  • Nice bike

  • @descargaelbano Thanks

  • great visual can u tell me if the hardtail is streched 2 inches o more please thanks keep rockinnnnnnnnnnn

  • @clairoucha The hard tail added almost 6 inches over the stock wheel base thats why I went with rear disk brakes over the factory drums because I didn't want to fab up a longer brake rod that might not be as strong and the disks will stop on a dime
