@ils360 There was a fill adapter on the market for years, along with refillable 1lb cylinders that had a relief (outage) valve to let you know when to stop filling the cylinder. Just be very careful not to overfill the cylinder.
How dangerous is it to refill the 1lb. tanks without using a refill gauge? Propane filling stations won't even fill a tank with an old valve due to the fact they are missing the necessary pop off valve to prevent exploding tanks. I'm not bad mouthing you at all, just curious about the safety. I know companies say non refillable but that's because they want you to spend money buying a new one each time. Thanks and I look forward to your response.
@brianb942 refill station have a motorized pump that refills the bottle. If it wasn't shut off it would overfill the tank. In this video he uses the pressure of the larger tank to re-pressurize and fill the smaller tank. No danger, plus the little thing off to the side of the top of the smaller bottle is a safety.
I have a question, because i airsoft i use propane as a cheaper alt. for green gas. I was wondering with my empty propane tank(Mini one) can i push down the needle and put alot of silicone oil in it then refill it? Thanks
I have a coleman propane tank that's empty, but one i find that the tank is bent in the valve but is very very very small but i didn't refilled the tank cause i think it might be dangerous. So i want to know if is dangerous to fill it
Tip 1..Leak check your refilled bottles with some soap and water...If your1#er is leaking? Use a small pin or screw driver to reset the the valve seat, tap it, & recheck
Tip 2..Just after your bottle is filled, always flip the 20# right side up then shut the 20# valve off..
Reason for this is that some tanks have welding slag in then from the machine welding and could damage valve seat when shutting it off...In this case you'll have to re- hook the 1#er back up to prevent tank from leaking M-T.
you don't have to press the valve down though i just use it till my torch goes out or engine stops then freeze it for 10-20+ min and fill, it works great.
i found that if i empty it too much it gets overfilled and it doesn't work well on my mower (when i was using it) because it got a shot of liquid and it didn't like that..
if you live in the united states they sell them at menards.

This is a good video for people who use airsoft or paintball guns that take the green bottles. Also a lot of go karts and stuff use those.

A little vaseline helps to lubricate and seal connections. Little bit is all that is needed.
