I remember how i got interested with his vocal talents. when MTV used to actually show music videos I saw Creed "With Arms wide open" wonderful song but its his talent at singing and putting his soul in his music why I like it so much. And this song reminds me of that. Great song a great voice and great performance
I still see it too. He is amazing. I will forever defend him, you can feel his pain in his songs and relate your own to it. I don't care if he can't sing as well as he used to as some people like to down him for, although I've seen him 4 times in the last 2 years and he sounds great to me but even if he didn't , I would still buy his CD's and go to his concerts because of how much the music means to him and the way he shows it to his fans and makes everyone feel as if they are "One".

This song reminds me of the sobering feeling of losing something true... Coming from a guy who always loved Creed and switched to Alter bridge after the breakup, I think both Scott and Myles have incredible talent. Although, I feel that Scott and Mark have the best combination that is difficult to overcome, or surpass. I feel that the quality of a song should be given a label from the dynamics and heart put into a song rather than the person himself. I'm looking forward to music from both bands.
I fucking love this. It's been a year and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. Myles Kennedy a better songwriter than Scott Stapp? FUCK NO! Kennedy hasn't been able to put half the meaning into all of his songs that Scott was able to put in half an album. Quite frankly, Scott has 1000x the voice Myles does. Fuck range, it's all about tone. Scott is much more adept for rock than Myles is.

Never said I was a Christian or what faith I believe in. I believe in judging each individual person on who they are as a whole by knowing them. Tremonti said he prefers sopranos, which is Myles' style, but he never said he actually prefers Myles over Stapp. Myles is a Robert Plant wannabe. I've never seen a fan-base suck the lead singer's dick as much as AB's. Stapp and Tremonti are reported to be one of the best songwriting duos ever. Stapp > Myles.

A few years back I was looking up some Scott Stapp goes and this song had already been written. It was a B side of the Gread Divide. It looks like they took some of the lyrics from this and added to the great divide. There is a song called Ciminal that I think have some lyrics as well that are in the album Full Circle. Man, this guy can write. This song can play over and over and I would never get sick of it!!
Scott Stapp (along with Mark) are two of the best prolific songwriters of our time. I remember a few of our more popular Rock Groups saying that when they heard the lyrics and music coming from Stapp and Temonti that they thought we might as well hang it up, how can you compete with that:) This song is so amazing! does anyone else beside me notice that these 2 Stapp songs actually suck? Why the hell does Scott keep using the same lyrics for EVERYTHING?? "Who we are and used to be is buried and gone" That's the same line in Overcome! And these songs have catchy riffs, but the vocals are horribly written. The one goog thing about this is Scott sounds like he did back in the old Creed days, so he has his voice back fully, hopefully.
@epicrate31 they don't suck, and especially not because he reused one line (and only once.) The song is entirely different anyway, with a different tempo and meaning. Also, in my opinion, there are many "goog" things about Stapp and Creed, which kick some ass.
I noticed that Stapp used some lyrical lines from this song and included them in Overcome by Creed.
"Everything we are and used to be is buried and gone" are both used in the beginning verses of both songs. Also the lines "Goodbye with no sympathy" are used as well.
This is a fantastic song! Although Scott's first solo album was good, I felt it could have been better and needed a few more stand-out songs. If Somber is representative of the material on his new album, it should be a classic!

@hellbadger84 Exactly bro. I guess I never thought Vedder's voice was that great because I can literally imitate it perfectly, so it never was anything special to me. So many of Pearl Jam's fans put down Creed, so I've developed a hate for them. I always feel that Scott knows what pain is. I don't care who hates him, because back in the day, there was something about him to sell 30-40 million copies off of 3 albums. I know those millions saw in him what I STILL see in him. An AMAZING artist.

Only two good songs from Vedder one with Chris Cornell and that was Hunger Strike and the other was Love Reign O'er Me a cover of The Who. A few years back I was looking up some Scott Stapp goes and this song had already been written. It was a B side of the Gread Divide. It looks like they took some of the lyrics from this and added to the great divide. There is a song called Ciminal that I think have some lyrics as well that are in the album Full Circle. Man, this guy can write. This song can play over and over and I would never get sick of it!!

Scott Stapp (along with Mark) are two of the best prolific songwriters of our time. I remember a few of our more popular Rock Groups saying that when they heard the lyrics and music coming from Stapp and Temonti that they thought we might as well hang it up, how can you compete with that:) This song is so amazing! His voice sounds great and I sometimes sit and wonder how awesome lyrics keep pumping out of them. Fascinating! What a gift. I cannot wait for his new album.

I'm stoked for the new album. But I'm still kinda pissed that on august 8th 2008 I was running to every music store I knew, looking for a the album he promised would be released that day. His myspace page counted down the days until that day came, and the cd didn't come out. Everyone at F.Y.E. and best buy, thought I was crazy. But I'll forgive him someday. haha.

does anyone else beside me notice that these 2 Stapp songs actually suck? Why the hell does Scott keep using the same lyrics for EVERYTHING?? "Who we are and used to be is buried and gone" That's the same line in Overcome! And these songs have catchy riffs, but the vocals are horribly written. The one goog thing about this is Scott sounds like he did back in the old Creed days, so he has his voice back fully, hopefully.

@epicrate31 they don't suck, and especially not because he reused one line (and only once.) The song is entirely different anyway, with a different tempo and meaning. Also, in my opinion, there are many "goog" things about Stapp and Creed, which kick some ass.

I noticed that Stapp used some lyrical lines from this song and included them in Overcome by Creed.
"Everything we are and used to be is buried and gone" are both used in the beginning verses of both songs. Also the lines "Goodbye with no sympathy" are used as well.

This is a fantastic song! Although Scott's first solo album was good, I felt it could have been better and needed a few more stand-out songs. If Somber is representative of the material on his new album, it should be a classic!

i REALLY love this song. It seems to only be a B-Side because part of the lyrics are from Creed's Overcome especially "Goodbye with no sympathy" and "everything we are and used to be is buried and gone". Other than that, KICKASS song! Who's the guitarist.

"Criminal" used to be my favorite song, just because I'd heard it before on live recordings (AFE). But now that I've heard both studio versions, I gotta say "Somber" is really catchy, just an awesome song! Can't wait for the new album! Kepp rockin Scott \m/ !! :D
