Nobody seems to know that a beta version of this game was revised and released. It's a little game called DONKEY KONG. If it weren't for the events that took place during this game's production, the Mario Brothers wouldn't exist!

WHHHAAAAAAAT popeye can climb UP the center ladder on the first screen ??? That's not original at all !!!! The arcade version (and f.i. the Atari 8 bits port) allows you only to go DOWN the center ladder....harumpf ! :D

Oh i love this game, its the best game ever, all categories. Best graphics, best sound, best control, its almost that you are in the game. Popeye, me and my friends used to play for hours and hours til the morning, drinking several bottles of vodka and eating chees doodles. Great memories from bringa eleven. And to that besserwisser stating the fat guys name was Brutus, that was in Sweden, hes real name was BLUTO.

In the arcade game, he turns red. For what it's worth, the NES has a closer color than most other versions of this game that I've seen - in the Colecovision version, for instance, Popeye turns green like he's envious of Brutus. And yes, that was his name in the game for those who didn't know.
