I recently had to update the bios on the version with the oval shaped cooler. It would crash randomly in games to a black screen in windows 7. I updated the bios and the issue is fixed. If thats happened to you try the bios update.

Yes, I do this! The Video card comes with an adaptor, but, when you play high graphics game, likikng Metro 2033, Crysis, you have an error, 'cause it is a bad connection, then you overload the bad connected part of the video card, and this can destroy your video card...

buy the 2x512mb, it will eat every game and i got the 512mb and in cod4, AMD quad core, on low settings, 333fps constand sometimes 500 constant (ish)

I have one of these overclocked to 780MHz/1060MHz... Stable and cool on stock exhaust. A bit loud at 100% fan speed. Other than that... great card. You'll need a good cool case to overclock!! (or aftermarket cooling products)

it may just be an ati driver issue.... completely remove all ati related drivers and then install with new drivers.

i had a similar problem when i installed the 4890... it crashing to bsod. i had to remove all ati related drivers and install the card then install the lastest drivers. this took care of the problem.

I installed the card yesterday in a system which had no ATI graphic card drivers (only nvidia), and then installed the latest ones from ATI.....but the crashes did occur the very same way as here :(

i play cod4 on high setting 1900 x 1200 with about 60fps depending on the map. no hiccups at all (i am now using the HD 4890 XFX XXX edition).

The only difference is like buying a Cadillac vs a Chevorlet they are both GM cars but one is more of a luxury vehicle.

Different brands may install better coolers or Overclock the card or just a better match for your systems look.

That's a killer card man, you're gonna love it. I have two of them in my system.

I was gonna go for three GTX 295s and run them in Tri-SLI, but I've used enough Nvidia cards in my lifetime. I decided to try ATi for a change.

And just a little FYI, I've heard that a pair of 4870s in a Crossfire setup can outperform the GTX 295. So you made a good choice. :-)
