  • could this macbook run skyrim? PLEASE RESPOND, I also have other programs to run on it if i got mac, mainly art software.

  • I'm not satisfied with the high resolution option since it is not that much sense in real estate! Nevertheless it's way better than the standard configuration, but, it's quite wise to add the SSD option, the performance is way far better than the 5400/7200rpm ones! I usually go with 3rd parties when it comes for memories and SSDs, my choice is from Other World Computing (OWC), their technology is far more superb than of Apple's! And more affordable....

  • But...will it blend?

  • But...will it blend???

  • can you configure the macbook pro at a local apple store or it can only be configure online?

  • @ARGENIS1105 only online :s

  • that screen is the same resolution as my 22 inch monitor... geezus

  • so i hear you do a lot of video work

  • also.......how crap is it that they dont give u a free remote anymore!?!?!?!!!

  • wheres the thunderbolt port??!?!?

  • @wrathallll

    >in the title

    >2010

    >lrn2read faggot

  • Is this a good laptop to support recorded and to record music?

  • @imgoinginbitch22 Yes, totally.

  • i expected that this model would support blu ray discs....

  • what went wrong with your previous mac?

  • @spacecy Nothing, just time for a change to bring you more videos.

  • Adult film entertainer for sure. . .

  • I like how you say socket rather than port =)

  • Hi, I'm going to get one of these MBP 2011 15",

however is the quality of the picture/movie shown better on the hi-res glossy screen than the standard glossy screen?

    thanks

  • @mickey420 better on the high res.

  • @mickey420 WAY better on the higher resolution screen.

  • NONONONONONO A Macbook Pro will give you many years of Regret.

  • How did u get a 2.66 GHZ!? im about to order this laptop and i can only upgrade it to 2.3 GHZ online... awesome vid by the way =)

  • @volcomxxl At the time of the video it was available.

  • @volcomxxl 2.66ghz DUAL core, 2.3ghz QUAD core. Huge difference. Add to the fact that the 2.3 ghz is a brand new sandy bridge quad core, and it will perform about 3 times faster, despite the clock speed differences.

  • @volcomxxl this is because this model is a 2010 model that runs a DUAL core i7. though the clock speed appears higher the 2.3ghz is a QUAD core i7 with a pretty nice turbo boost to 3.4ghz. though the processor appears "slower" by clock speed the 2.3ghz processor on the new models is actually a far more capable one. the different between the new 2.2 and 2.3ghz is negligible but you do get a slightly bigger cache and a slightly higher turbo boost. unless your pushing it you won't notice it

  • @volcomxxl This is last gen i7.

  • @volcomxxl the 2.3 ghz processor is about twice as fast as the 2.66 ghz in this one. The 2.66 ghz one he has was last years model with the dual core core i7 processor. The 2.3 ghz one you are talking about is a core i7 quad core processor which is twice as fast because it has double the amount of cores in it's processor.

  • @volcomxxl These new i7's are faster.

  • I have a question to ask, do you think that If I'm doing After Effects and final cut and photoshop I will need the 8GB of ram or will 4GB run it just fine? Thanks!

  • @ghartsho 4GB would be a minimum, 8GB recommended.

  • what a nice accent. reminds me of home. a bit like old-school australian accent :D

  • @chrizmaster Thanks.

  • windows should hav bought apple off back in the day nw they are the main rivals haha

  • HeHe, Watching This vid With the MacBook Pro 15' inch bought today ;D

  • man; is everyone an idiot, there are no firewire ports, that's the thunderbolt port and mini display port, incompetent people.

  • @Dark0Blood Not at all incompetent, this is a 9 month old computer, it is FireWire and mini display port. See my channel page for early 2011 version.

  • @Dark0Blood Also, there ARE firewire ports on the 2011 MBPs. From left to right: Magsafe, ethernet, firewire, Mini DP/Thunderbolt, so on

  • I actually do love your accent

  • @nguyensontung611 thanks.

  • I have a stupid macbook pro 13 inch that is nog big its little the screen is not big to i hate that i wan't a macbook pro 15 or 17 inch!

  • if i must choose for making music the Macbook white or Macbook pro?

  • @TheGuitarHeroFan2 pls tell me and explain to me i just need your help i wanted to buy this laptop from a friend and its used its a(Macbook Pro 15" Screen 2.16Ghz, 2Gb Ram, 120GB HD) im a producer and im gonna make lots of beats and workin on some music stuff..it be a pleasure to hear whats your suggestion about this info..

    thx

  • can this play crysis with high end 15 inch ?

  • Well that's all well and good, but is it suitable for video work?

  • @mindajudge Yes.

  • @davomrmac Oh thank goodness for that, I wasn't sure if it would! It's good because I do a lot of video work.

  • If you wabt faster HDD then buy SSD.

  • Stupid Toyota advertisements.

  • i wish i could afford a MacBook Pro :(

  • He seem to use the cam by chance for 1st time.. huh!.. Truly pre-matured without any art or editing.. in least unleash a little knowledge about video handling.. So that people will gain trust after watching this..

  • @ZachIsaacJune Thanks.

  • at first i used to hate apple but i didnt realize how awsome it was.

  • I'm getting this, this Thursday for my birthday for both work, gaming, editing and for just general use I could choose between the 21" iMac i3 or this MacBook Pro 15" i5 and I went for this mostly because I can take it with me. Do you think this was a good decision? I already have computer and didn't think the iMac was as necessary so I went for laptop. Again do you think this was a good or bad idea?

  • @OlliTehGod Awesome plan to me.

  • @OlliTehGod

Bad idea, the Macbook Pro is due for an update, it seems you already have a computer so you could wait.

  • Do you think that upgradeing the CPU to the Intel i7 2.88 GHz would make the mac faster overall or would upgrading the memory to 8GB be a smarter idea. i dont usualy have more than 7 programs open at once. but i have talked to quite alot of people and theres a mixed opinion.

  • @MrSGavs More memory makes for a better experience, if you can afford CPU then get this as you cannot change at a later stage.

  • @davomrmac ohh and do you know if i was to get the better CPU would it effect the energy consumption of the mac?

  • @MrSGavs I think the CPU draws pretty much the same power.

  • @davomrmac ok Thanks :D ohh and i like the Review.. subscribed aswell :D

  • @MrSGavs You probably won't need more than 4GB RAM unless you're doing some serious video editing

  • I'm thinking of getting one after they refresh it this year with the new OS installed. But with steve job ailing, do you think its worth investing in one? I'd like to invest in it for the long-term use so all considerations must be taken meticulously. Your review is great by the way. it's informative and persuaded me to really get one. Thanks in advance for any reply.

  • @Muamarz Yes, the latest leave of absence changes nothing.

  • @ThePocopuppy The new macbook pros are coming out most likely in the next few months i would wait until then

  • I have a Dell Studio 15, very fast but designed like shit.

  • Best rewiew ever!

  • @dejansavicbl Thanks.

  • @ThePocopuppy Yes very suitable.

  • Hey Dave, you want to switch your glossy one for an Antiglare high res? LOL, just kidding me man. I've never seen this model before at the Apple store or anyone else with it in person. The Antiglare is nice and all, but I sort of regret purchasing it because I use the computer mostly indoors.

  • @JSantana319 Glossy is fine.

  • Does this dude do a lot of video work by any chance?

  • @FuzzyDunlop83 Perfect for video work.

  • @FuzzyDunlop83 No, he does a lot of video work.

  • How hot does this get when you use it? My friend has an older 2008 or 2009 macbook pro and it gets very very hot while using it

  • @goodatlinerider Slightly warm when you are doing video editing, just browsing the net it is cool.

  • @davomrmac Ok thanks, I plan on using one as a work station, I have a high end pc media desktop I use for video/photo editing and work, but I am looking to replace that for a macbook.

  • this is my dream computer i have been saving for some time now and hope to own it in the very near future.

  • Best review i've seen so far. It's exactly the same configuration i want to get. But I cant decide if i should wait for the next "generation" (2011) or to buy the current one. What do you think ? I will take a look on your other videos. Thanks man

  • @progamerkeks Thanks for watching.

  • Is the high resolution screen worth it?

  • @manofdamatch Every penny.

  • @davomrmac I thought the macbook's default screen is good enough. I will take your advice though ;)

  • @manofdamatch The higher resolution is so much better. I got a matte screen high res and I love the amount of space and the added screen real estate that's been added to it. I had the 1440x900 15 inch, but I sold it and in comparison like I said it's way better indeed.

  • Dam I want one:D I've got a 13 inch now, but because I'm getting into industrial designing, which includes some big rendering I'm going to need all the upgrades I can get. So that means I need a new macbook pro:P this one to be precise. If I only had a money-three.

  • @tjeppi :( well keep saving, I am sure it'll be in your hands one day.

  • nice vid very informative

  • @meohash Thanks.

  • Getting one in about a month.

    So excited!

  • @shiningstars109 Congrats!

  • Hi, i am thinking about bying an aoole macbook pro 15 inch, and possibly i7 processor. And hen adding a LED Cinema Display, what to you think of that idea??

  • @varseltrekant23 That would be an awesome setup.

  • @davomrmac But I was just wondering if it is worth getting the high res version, because I am a huge fan of clear and crisp images. Also what is the best option glare or anti glare?. Because I have experienced that anti-glare screans dont have the same clear colours?

  • @varseltrekant23 I would go hi-res gloss if you can afford it. I agree anti-glare does not have the same edge definition. However, if you think you will be using the external monitor a lot, is hi-res needed on the laptop?

  • @davomrmac The external monitor is meant for movie viewing and that sort of use, personly I preffer to have the Mac laptop with me around. The only thing i will by extra is the screan res. Memory and prossesor I will by somewhere else I think, it is so expensive in the Apple store. But wich size should the external monitor be, for best image and video quality 24 or 27 inch?

  • @varseltrekant23 I would go for a 27-inch if it is for movie watching, make sure you get 16:9 format rather than 16:10.

  • @davomrmac Thats what I was thinking about, I have been a bit unsure about the 16:10. The Mac dosent have any HDMI input or output, What exactly are they using? And is it the same quality ?

  • @varseltrekant23 Mini Display Port output, excellent quality, plus you can add cheap DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters.

  • @davomrmac OK thanks alot :)

But what do you know about converting videos on to mobile phones, wich is the best choce, MP4 or something else ??

  • @varseltrekant23 Normally MP4. I use Handbrake.

  • @varseltrekant23

    gooooooood

  • the high res screen is like taking a 20.9in screen of the same pixels density as the normal srcreen, taking it and shrinking and cramming it into the 15.4in

  • what are the speakers like?? i mean im prob gonna get some good speakers...but if i dont need to i would also be quite happy :D

  • @sportsfake Pretty good, one of the better laptop speakers.

  • I'm Thinking Of Getting One Should I Get The Wirless Keyboard And Magic Mouse As Well?

  • @therandomizer010 Not really needed, but both nice accessories.

  • is the i5 good for gaming such as l4d2 etc on high settings?

  • @capacop01 Should be fine.

  • just 1 question.....where's the air vent? ive been looking around my friend's 13 inch and i don't see it lol

  • @Muamarz It actually sucks air in through the keyboard and ports and throws hot air out the back. Very efficient. Mine is always cool.

  • @Muamarz there are none, all of the mac book and mac book pros have no fans that buzz all the time and piss you off like HPs do

  • @teamfortress3 they do have fans

  • @teamfortress3 are you sure about the no fans! I thought they do and blow air through the keyboard.

  • Now you can choose if your Macbook Pro has the 2.66 or 2.8GHz i7 Processor :)

  • Excellent review, hopefully in a year from now i'll have the money to buy one.

  • @BananaMuffins Thanks for watching.

  • @BananaMuffins I just bought one... It's very worth it. It cost me an arm and a leg but once you get one, you'll know where all that money went. You can totally feel the quality they put into it. The unibody design was a brilliant idea. the keys are perfect. It took me up until now to switch from a pc to a Mac and I feel I chose one of the best time to do so. The core i7 works wonders. Being an artist, I can appreciate it for its performance.

  • @djmaui Great comment, thanks for adding this.

  • @BananaMuffins whahahaha you work @ burgerking or something?

  • I'm getting one of these next summer......time to start saving :D

  • @MatthewGeddes Good luck with your savings.

  • What a great review, thanks! I was especially happy to hear you recommend this for video work because that's why I'm buying one of these. I wanted to go for the i7 but I heard it runs too hot on the lap during video or any graphics intensive apps... is that true? Also, does the anti-glare option not give more accurate colour? Pls do advise, many thanks!

  • @magikat7 This one did not run hot. The antiglare is meant to be more colour accurate.

  • I have a problem…. why is the keyboard like that??? wasn't the keyboard redesigned???

  • @Champain11 This is a UK keyboard.

  • @davomrmac oh well…. thanks for clearing that up… Ps. the enter key stinks, I would personally replace it with the US version (my current)

  • So would the High Res Anti Glare Screen come in a black frame or the silver one? I just got mine and im just wondering if Apple made a mistake or something

  • @Anime4lifeX7 Silver bezel for the antiglare.

  • Just ordered a 13 inch MBP ready for uni :D what would you recommend as a solid case/sleeve for it that isn't too pricey and will be suitable to place the laptop into an ordinary messenger style bag?

  • @Nightvisionlol The Speck SeeThru is nice.

  • Do you think this computer will be good for video editing in Final Cut Studio, iMovie?

Also, if i get parallels and run sony vegas and after effects, could it handle that?

Last question, do you think the 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm is worth it over the 5400 rmp version?

sorry for asking so many questions, I just need to know these things before I buy it :)

  • @suddyboy7 This will be superb for running the apps you mention. EVen Vegas in Parallels. Regarding the hard drive for video editing you need at least a 7200rpm drive, either internal or external.

  • @davomrmac Thanks a lot

  • How do you like the high-res 1680x1050 displayed compared the standard 1440x900? I'm just trying to decide which to get.

And you didn't get the ant-glare screen? You hear so many people saying they don't like the glossy screens but I'm not sure of the pros and cons?

  • @james737 The 1680 screen is so much sharper and you will really appreciate fitting more windows and panels onto the screen. I personally felt the anti-glare screen looked a bit blurred and furry around the edges, whereas the gloss was spot on. I can also deal with the reflections because I mainly work indoors.

  • i really want one.

  • I can't decide between the 15" i5 and i7. Because if I get the i5, I could at least upgrade the Hard Drive to the 7200 rpm and get the Hi Res screen.

Do you think the performance difference is really that noticeable?

  • @botchok5 Depends on your tasks, for video processing it would be noticeable.

  • @davomrmac Ah I see, I'll be using it mainly for Photoshop editing and some video editing. But I guess I'll just go for the i7. There goes my student loan lol.

  • @botchok5 Good luck with your purchase.

  • how long did yours take to deliver?

  • @rickygill12345 About 5 working days.

  • @davomrmac thats good because i just ordered the exact same machine and cant wait!

  • @rickygill12345 The apple store website says within 24 hrs, but that is in the US, I'm not sure where you live, it depends

  • how much GHz does your macbook pro have?

  • so you prefer glossy instead of anti-glare?

  • @bchamorro Yes. The anti-glare seem to blur things a little.

  • Would it have killed them to include an HDMI socket?

  • why do some of the new macbook pro's with the high res screen have a white border around the screen and then others have a black border like yours ?

  • @videomasters2468 Black border is high res glossy, silver border is high res matte (antiglare).

  • Hey Dave,

I'm looking into getting the 15" MacBook Pro Core i7. i will be using it to design, i want to run CS5 on it. Would 4gb of ram be fine enough running these applications? such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Itunes, Ichat, Safari, etc. All at the same time? Also i may use bootcamp and put windows 7 on it so i can run window based design programs, knowing that should i upgrade to 8gb or ram? thanks!!! i subscribed!

  • @GabeCastroYo Good choice of laptop. 4GB RAM will be fine to run those together, once you start working on a large file, you will notice a massive improvement with 8GB.

Bootcamp means rebooting into Windows 7, so 4GB RAM would be fine. If you were going to use VMWare Fusion then 8GB would be better.

Anti-glare, that is a hard one. I do not personally like that screen, it seems to take away the sharp edges in the likes of Illustrator. I go glossy and just angle or sit away from the sunlight.

  • I'm hoping to get a 15 inch Macbook Pro, but unlike yours I'll probably be going with 8 gigabytes of RAM. Very helpful review, thanks.

  • @Celiajaneo Good luck with that.

  • I also saw your Crucial Memory upgrade. Does Premiere Pro CS5 use all of those 8GB RAM or will the 4GB RAM will do just fine? I will be doing video editing of Canon 7D footage in particular. Thanks.

  • @ajiaggarao 4GB would be fine, 8GB would be better.

  • I'm getting this EXACT laptop delivered to me later this week!!!

  • @stevenwhite2010 Cool, let me know how you get on with it.

  • supposedly he does a lot of video work.

  • Great video btw, quick question dave i dont really use computers for the same use you do. i only use them for email, word, internet , youtube etc. would it be a waste of money if i bought this hi end 1 with the same upgrades. i only say that because i want it to never slow down. so by buying the hi end one it wont. is this correct, thanx

  • @ghettogazz Well, if only for use on what you describe either a white MacBook or the entry level 13-inch MacBook Pro would do an awesome job and save you a lot of money.

  • @ghettogazz this mac will do what you listed above lightning fast but all computers eventually slow down as new software requires new hardware in order to operate

  • i am trying to chose between a macbook pro 15 2,53ghz i5 hi rec or an imac 27 2,66 ghz qouad core i5 what should i do?

  • i need that computer!

  • Great video!! I have just ordered the same laptop last night! Except I decided to get 8gbs of ram put in by them instead of doing it myself. Can't wait for it to get here!

  • @tantanman2852 Congrats on your purchase.

  • I'm getting a 15 inch Macbook Pro soon and I'm deciding whether to get the high resolution or just the standard 1440x900. I will be using the computer for internet browsing, chat, email, a lot of video streaming because I love watching YouTube videos, Netflix instant play movies and I feel the 15 inch is the perfect size laptop for that. The 17 inch is great and amazing, but I don't need that extrra weight. 13 inch too small. Dave, what do you recommend for me?

  • @JSantana319 It sounds like you have decided on the 15-inch size. If you won't be doing video editing or something like that, then I would say go for the standard 1440x900 res.

  • @davomrmac Thanks Dave!! I won't be doing any professional type of work like you mentioned. I hardly do any video editing and to be honest the small font it's not something I like very much, but damn the resolution besides it it's amazing. I will definitely go with the 1440x900. My first Mac was the 2008 15 inch Macbook Pro before the unibody which I later sold so I know how it feels to have the 1440x900. Thumbs up to your videos!!

  • your keyboard is different than mine...

  • @sahaj376 Different country perhaps :)

  • Nice review, nice voice. I'm thinking about buying the high-res screen, but I'm not sure if it is worth its money. Do you think it is?
