  • Thanks so much, I appreciate your comment!

  • I really like this, sweet, humble doves - how can one not appreciate them?

    Is this on velour paper?

  • Thank you for your kind comment! This was done on Sennelier La Carte paper, one of my favorites!

  • gorgeous! and the little bird winking...just love it!

  • i just left here and thought I'd take a peek at your website, and was surprised to see that you were the artist who did that painting of the black and white cat on the blue blanket that was in the Pastel Journal competition a few years ago - that painting has never quite left my mind, I loved it.

  • Wow, what an amazing compliment! Thank you for letting me know that. I hope you had a chance to grab the May/June 2008 Pastel Journal - you might recognize a couple more of my pieces in the "Animal Attraction" article. Thanks again for stopping by!

  • ooh so sorry... I went to give you another 5 stars on this as I truly believe it deserves it, but the screen shifted just as i clicked on the fifth star, and I think it took only 2 stars.... I will have to wait for the screen to settle before attempting to click stars in the future... anyway... your work deserves ALL the STARS it can get!! another WELL DONE!

  • It's quite alright, Gary, I really appreciate your stopping by and commenting! Thanks, too, for your encouragement :)

  • Sandy your work is beautiful - I luv doves, such common birds but so elegant. I also paint animals with soft pastel, not easy with all the detail, esp w/ feathers!....I use alot of pastel pencils in my work, along with all types of soft pastels and nupastels, do you? I also was wondering what kind of board or paper you use, sanded paper is absolutely awesome, you can get so many layers, and the medium goes on so nice. Ever try it?

  • Hi, I completely agree about the doves. I adore watching their every move. I generally use La Carte or Wallis sanded papers and recently have been working with the new Unison sanded surfaces. They're great for grabbing the pastels! Yes, I also work some with pastel pencils and nupastels and find they work great for blending. Thanks so much for your comments. Sorry it took me so long to get back here!

  • ah, so you know the joys of sanded paper...I have not tried unison yet, I currently have a huge stock of artspectrum that I need to put a dent in. sadly, I have to travel quite a ways to the nearest quality art store, because I like to buy in person, not order online.. thanks for posting this beautiful painting

  • Eceptionally nice! what a loving mood you have created... truly outstanding!!! FIVE WELL-DESERVED STARS!

  • Thank you so much, Gary, for the nice comment and rating. Your work on youtube has been inspiring! Now, I just need time to look around some more.
