@FutureFirefighter32 It's probably being used to keep their heart rates up, while still giving them a small break. I've seen it used in different circuit workouts.
I like the variety and functional applications of this workout. The only thing I would stress is that isn't for anyone to just pick up and start doing. It's an advanced workout. Add beginners to the mix and I see people getting dropped everywhere. Now that I mention it...that sounds hilarious :)
Solofly2sfc- if you didn't know this is a firefighter workout. that is called a fireman's cary, it would help him more with removing someone from a building. at least it would help him more than a bar with weights on it would.
to be able to move and lift an unstable off balanced body.... you should use a real person to lift. Just like wrestling, but they are lifting a body that doesnt want to be lifted up. haha.
@solofly2sfc Because when going on calls we don't respond to barbells and dumbbells. So the better to the human body, the better it is. Unless you REALLY wanna be a homo about it.

It mimics the work load of actual fire fighting, I imagine. It's one thing to have big pretty muscles from machine exercises but what about function?
Body weight exercises are about function.
