Lo sento mucho. I will pray a rosary for him. You are correct he does need to be remembered for he is and the very real and inspiring music he wrote that came from his soul and heart. This is why I love his music. He wrote about life in a very real and beautiful way, it always reacheds my heart. When a song reaches your hear, it does reach your soul. I have prayed for him even though I know he is home. You are more than a just a "fan" you truely do honor his legacy by seeing him for who he is.

When I listen to this song I think of my Dad and my 2 brothers. At one time one brother lived at or in Minneapolis/St.Paul and one lives in Chicago. My Dad was a feed salesman and a game hunter and a lovely singer of song. The line that chokes me up the most is" And Papa I don't think I said I love you near enough". Dan has passed as my father and even though I told my Pa that I loved often, I still and yet wish that I had said it even more frequently and had more time with him as well. Iluvudad

To Theron: Just noticed Dan Folgerberg died on my father's birthday. Dec 16th. My brother Scott reminded me on Dec 28th it had been 33 years since my dad died. Time fades lots of pain and sorrow, but I still teared up listening to this. Sorry for your loss today.

Just learned he died of prostate cancer as I almost did. Follow those PSA's guys. Get evaluated for anything over 2 which indicates inflammation(prostatic inflammatory neoplasia) at least. Cancer will follow inflammation.

Yes - Dan Fogelberg died from prostate cancer that was caught far too late, at an advanced stage (first diagnosed as stage 4 cancer). He died at home in Deer Isle, Maine, USA on December 16, 2007.

Dan Fogelberg said that if he only wrote one song, "Leader of the Band", would have been it. I, on the other hand, have only written one song, "Props 2 Pop!". It is the only thing I have ever done that I consider perfect. I lost my dad as well, January 24, 2005. We can cry together.. one thing , he lives in spirit- my wife is a prominent psychic and she has seen him a number of times since. So, hes alright and we'll see him again. Which makes the pain a little easier to handle.

To the Morning (from Home Free) may very well be the most beautiful song ever written and recorded...if you have not listened to it, do. Dan wrote and recorded it at either 17 or 18 yrs old...magical talent.

His wonderful music stands for itself. On his website someone wrote "it is hard to imagine heaven, without Dan there". So very true....
