@Cesariono I think it's a mix from the Mozarts Requiem, in particular:
1. Lacrimosa,
2. Dies Irae,
You can find both on Youtube:)
If I recall properly Mozart didn't finish the piece by himself. He died at the time he was writing it. From what I remember he stated, that he felt like this piece of music was slowly killing him. Ironicly it was then preformed at his funeral.
Tough it wasn't used in oryginal anime it suits it perfectly in my mind :)
Why do they have to make a remake series of this show?? As crazy & philosophical, & weird as the orginal was, I think many would agree it was for lack of a better word an entertaining & unique show!!! It had merit & it was well done maybe not perfect but well done. So why are they remaking it???? Anyone else wonder that???
Watching this scene again reminds me how "unsettling" this whole show was, especially this movie...I wonder if the rebuild Eva series can top this one disturbed clusterf**k of an ending.
End of Evangelion set to Motzart's Requiem (and Sir Neveille Marriner's at that) is awesome and quite fitting. Whats more approprate for the end for the world...
@Cheefan916 No, really. Rei's soul is literally that of the angel that spawned humanity. She not only looks like an albino child version of Shinji's mother, she is also the mother of all (non-Adam) life on earth. Hell, that means even the Dinosaurs were decended from her! How is that not awesome?
@Cheefan916 Basically, she isn't Lilith, she is derived of Lilith, but she isn't actually Lilith, it's just that her body works pretty much alike, hence why they kept on giving her injections and pills. You see, Gendo planned to basically merge the piece of Adam in his body with Rei in order to control Lilith himself, but Rei ripped his hand off halfway through, and instead imposed her will onto Lilith when she fused with Lilith, making Lilith chose Shinji to decide the fate of humanity.
@Cheefan916 As such, Lilith started human instrumentality, causing all humans to revert to LCL, bringing everyones souls into one except Shinji. Lilith, using Rei's form and psyche, then left it to Shinji to decide the fate of humanity, to accept Instrumentality and join everyone else as LCL and become one being, or reject Instrumentality, and return to the pain and suffering everyone went through as a human, alone once more, not one being as a whole.
@Cheefan916 Really, a word written comment doesn't do it justice at all, the scene is what you need to see, but in the end, Shinji rejects Instrumentality, and Lilith accepts his wish, returning him to earth, along with supposedly everyone else to follow later, although Asuka is also returned with him at the same time, unexplained why, perhaps Lilith saw it that he chose Asuka (Dividuality) above Rei (Instrumentality).
@vc180191 ahhh you're reading much into it, but yes shinji rejected instrumentality shinji had the power to decide over the course of humanity remember kaworu said that to him I believe and asuka simply appeared because shinji simply wished so....maybe I'm wrong lol but I was only able to understand this anime after serious research in wikipedia ;P.
In the first part there's the beginning of Mozart's requiem. Then, "Dies Irae",another part of this requiem. Great music! Good for apocalyptic themes like this one.
@RudojiLape Neon Genesis Evangelion made both Angels in the anime, in the Bible they were the first humans though Lilith was later replaced with Eve for some reason or another, I don't know that much, hell I don't even have a specified religion.
@MrAnthem123 It's all so vague and never fully explained in NGE. The whole Lilith thing was in the JEWISH Old Testament, while the Protestants pretty much leave out the whole unruly Lilith part and skip right to creating Eve from Adam. OwO
@RudojiLape The religious themes in Eva always seemed very haphazard and poorly thought out. Mainly I think it was just done because judeo-christianity is exotic and different in Japan thus "origional" there. They seemed to use it as a crutch in my opinion.
@BernardBluth The way I see it, it's more like the whole Adam/Lilith/Angels scenario is the TRUE source of life in the Evangelion universe, and all our human religions are just memories our souls had from the Egg of Lilith, like the cross as the symbol for the Tree of Life, and the naming system for everything. I think it plays off the whole every-religion-can-be-right thing, but I agree with how it was PUT INTO THE SHOW. Them Japanese just thought it looked cool =w=
Dude I don't mean to be a ball buster here.... But you DO know that'ss not Adam right? That would be Lilith. Adam's embryo is on Gendo's hand and his soul was implanted onto Kaworu.
Ah, well sorry for ruining it for you lol. But yeah, the embryo on Gendo's desk was soon grafted onto his right hand, right at the palm. You'll see Adam's soul in episode 24, or at least a humanized version of it.
Guess no one can steal one of the most precious items known to mankind when it's surgically grafted onto your palm lmao. You can see a brief image of it during episode 24 I believe, when Gendo is standing in front of Unit-02. It may only be in the director's cut version though.
Dont even like this show but I gotta say that is some good animation.

Adam's the first Angel
Lilith is the first human.
I could never figure out why NERV would catalog both of them as Angels, unless it's by blood type (blue). They're more like Seeds of Life >3
