I figure you've learned from this what I already knew. One must have more velocity when reaching the apex (ledge) of the land mass from which one is freefalling to water in a kayak from to avoid over rotating. In the case of a bridge launch a powerful push from an assistant is highly advised. But even with a strong push slightly past vertical landing is likely.

Also keep in mind that flat non aerated water is very dense in comparison to what one encounters at the bottom of a waterfall. A friend of mine who's 25' bridge drop (into flat water) that I photographed indicated the landing to be painful on face and chest
