  • hmmm...reminds me of red dead redemption.

  • Rip the old American West, wish it would come back.

  • "I got a shotgun, a rifle, and four wheel drive and a country boy can survive..."

  • If all you want to eat are rodents, small birds and such, a shotgun is fine. But if you want to feed your family deer, elk and moose, you need a rifle.

  • @IsMackinac If you knew anything about guns, you would know that a shotgun firing a slug would provide any game you would want. And then when the game you were hunting was smaller, you simply load it with buck or bird shot.

The "expert" was right when he said a shotgun would have been the best all-purpose weapon.

  • Excellent video.

The old west and the stories that go with it get more popular with time.

The guns used back then are legendary.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • the buffalo were not decimated (reduced by a tenth), but were wiped out

  • @vulpecula999 Since words matter so much to you, perhaps you should have used "nearly" as well. They came close to being wiped out, but were not. I know, because they are tasty.

  • Is anyone here through interest of Red Dead Redemption?

  • @KillMrFist i got the game and its amazing

  • @KillMrFist yea i got an interest to the west when i played that game and i discovered that life in the old west is hard XD

  • I had the video, watched it all the time. Lost the videos in hurricane Katrina. Been looking all over the find it, no luck. Thanks for posting.

  • my grampa got a 45. pistol a 1920 shot gun and a 1920 knife to put on rifles he was in a war

  • Yeah, now the Government wants to take them away from you

  • This is a truly honest, informative and interesting video. Many thanks and greetings from Germany !

  • Gatlings would be set up as artillery at this time the guns could be set to fire along a cross fire path which would prevent an Hostiles from advancing to the positions and would interdict and kill or wound any who tried to cross the area covered.

  • Very interesting clip,thx.

"Army equipped with obsolete weapons".........Military budget cuts are nothing new it seems!

  • witch do you think is better the winchestor or the remington shot gun .huh what do i know im onely 10

  • this coment is from gms films .....................how ever made this video sucks

  • duttcop,thankyou,ease83,for pictures of history of the guns rifles of the old west!

  • No problem! Thanks for checkin!

  • Indians given the same or some support from foreign power would have defeated the US military. The Indians proove to be better soldiers. The US government successfully isolated the Indians from receiving any foreign aid.

  • I hear that,the old isolate,divide & conquer.

  • It is just so sad, were the Indians really not interested to be part of the New World or was it the New World that did not want the Indians to be part of it?

  • Sort of sad.......

  • Yeah, but if Custer had one with him,who knows...he still went out in a "Blaze of glory".

  • Nope. Custer's attack was simply what he had to do. Indian scouts told him to attack at once to achieve surprise. Watch "General-in- chief on Little Big Horn" to see the opinion of the best Indian fighter of all time, Lieutenant General Nelson Miles

  • if he brought his artillery and gatling guns he would have won

  • way too heavy. Gatling guns were useless against quick Indians.

  • and what about the range? Repeating rifles weren't as good as Custer's rifles

  • Gatling guns were far too heavy for the Little Bighorn

  • True, but it looks like the repeaters were easier to load & faster to shoot, giving the Native Americans the edge? Thanks for looking.

  • You haven't the edge if the range is poor. Indians used to have small weapons, because they loved to ride and to shoot in the same time. Custer had the edge because of fire disciplin and range. Indians had to come close to shoot the soldiers.
