  • wooooooow man my jaw dropped. i can see the pilot now gripping the yok for dear life

  • holly shit...

  • A little more head wing and the plane can takeoff going backwards. That would be nice to see.

  • Great example of old plane, new technology and performance as needed for those special occasions.

    Seems like a good plan to reduce climb and gain some airspeed after the high performance takeoff.

    How much would "normal load" degrade takeoff performance?

  • holy mariachis!!!!!,....can somebody tell me in how many distance can be land this kind of plane?

  • That truly is STOL in action.

  • I didn't know Cub Crafters was making helicopters now! Great work there.

  • its a frikin choppah!

  • That guy has a contagious laugh.

  • its going up faster than forward :O

  • clear the trees quick there

  • Is it a helicopter?

  • @sixmagpies Actually its a UFO

  • like 14 foot takeoff distance what the f??

  • 19 feet

  • Just amazing!!!

  • wow 18 seconds of fun

  • It nearly looks like a toy that weighs like 10 lbs when it took-off...it climbed SUPER FAST too.

  • The Carbon Cub is for the most part the same plane as Cub Crafter's Sport Cub. It has few changes done to the fuselage, wings, and gear. It has two 11 gallon fuel tanks, I know I built them! I know the tanks were close to empty on the record take off but that is exactly what it was built to do is short take offs. I dont think it's a gimmick. It is an awesome peice of art. We had fun building it!

  • chunk62: I didn't mean that the plane was a gimmick, I really admire what you guys did and agree that it is an awesome work of art. I just meant that the short take off is a 'gimmick' of sorts in that it's an exhibition type of thing and the aircraft is configured to do that single feat with exceptional results. In other words: I didn't mean it in a bad way...

  • I know, its cool.If you havent seen it in person it is truly awesome. I believe the owner is possibly going to sell it. I am not positive but that is what I heard. Keep up to date with Cub Crafters. There are some exciting things coming soon!

  • yer i live in Australia and im learning in a sport cub its also the firts in Aus!!! the're great fun to fly and realy teaches how to fly properly. im also only 14 XD

  • Good on ya - I am 34 learning to fly - wish I had started at 14 when I wanted to.

  • @hogey74 I am 14 now and really want to fly and dont want to wait till im 34 so what steps could you reccomend me taking to get in the air sooner?

  • @DMCcornish your gonna need a airplane right or do you just need an older man and think this is a good way to meat guys.

  • how on earth did it take-off in 50 feet

  • easy...

    headwind;

    light airplane;

    put some flaps down;

    give 'er hell

  • Right, extremely light with 220 hp. It was special built to do stuff like that but in a way it's a gimick because he obviously doesn't have the fuel tanks filled and there's no moose carcass in the back!

    The Oregon Aero guys had their Pilatus PC-12 there too and it was doing some amazing stuff like landing in about the smae distance as most of the Cubs!

  • wow! 220HP! I have an O-360 with high compression cylinders and it puts out about 190HP. What engine is in there?

  • you don't own shit besides a clapped out f150 mi24hind
