  • I wonder what they did with the cars at the end...

  • My 92 Camry finally went bad at around 210,000 miles. We replaced her tranny, engine, and thermostat all within 3,000 miles. She's still running beautifully, and she was extremely reliable up until she passed 200. She's still going though! Probably for a long time to come with all the new parts =)

  • Respect if yall need a hand gimme a shout you know whos ... good an whos not . ; )

  • That's amazing

  • All of you guys. Shut up. You guys try to engineer cars that can do this. Keep in mind that they hooked the chains to the suspension, not the chassis.

  • @Fatboychrisdo the suspension is a part of the chassis, you retard

  • If they want to test the structural rigidity of these chassis, maybe they should drop some Mercedes AMG engines in and see how these chassis' handle it.. then we'll be talking.. this video means nothing to me because I anyways think that a car should handle the weight of at least five times its own weight .. a Lexus can never compare with a Benz (or audi, bmw) chassis.. at least not anytime soon.. they should've put an s-class in front of the ls holding up all the other lexus'

  • @romoguy93 I laugh when reading your comment... :D

  • @romoguy93 Haha!

  • Рекламные видеоролики nw-tv.ru

  • why is it in black and white???

  • sweet

  • can anyone tell me why are the engineers and etc. are all americans ?? I think it shouldve been japanese engineers and workers who worked on these cars.some people would mistake it for an american made car

  • @tom80cruse look at scion! TC is been enginnering by america now!

  • How did they get the cars down?

  • How come we never get to see how they supported the rear of the car while hauling it off the ground? Camera tricks, no, selective editing yes.

  • @stevehoge they didn't support the rear of the car.

  • @rivengle If they didn't support the rear end of the car while elevating the front end then they would have dragged the rear bumper across the pavement as the rear wheels left the ground.

  • "Reliability" should have as synonym "japanese technology". You simply look to their cars and you'll observ a large amount of old high-mileage japanese cars still going strong after 2 decades.

    Bravo!

  • @DerAdventurer my wife's es 300 (1999 ) has 530000 km and still going strong - just recently changed 4 struts - no leaks , no transmission issues - pretty good i think - i tiny spot of rust on rear left fender ( less than 2 mm )

  • Japanese auto distribution system was stacked against importers- existing auto dealers were forbidden to sell foreign autos or to partner with foreign automakers.

    Japan has used automotive technical regulations as a means to protect local markets by creating excessively difficult and costly regulatory and certification requirements, with little or no safety or emissions benefits;

    The tax system in Japan was designed to benefit domestic over imported motor vehicle types;

  • @crackaddict444 You said it, not me. :P

  • I would have rather seen the LS hang a bunch of Escalades and Range Rovers while everyone stands under.

  • TOO bad the poeple who can afford to buy these cars don't have time to watch these commercials or neither do they even give a rats but that their car can hang upside down

  • @gregvsn

The message is about integrity, the "Hard Way", in body, design, and execution

If integrity sucks, than you shouldn't bother watching Lexus commercials

  • @gregvsn a waist of time??? hahahha!!

  • im impressed!

  • Bah.... All this, and they still made it look phony in the advertisement with all the image processing. Why not use CGI then. Or even better: don't butcher the footage.

  • It seems... someone is really jealous (16 dislikes), hehe. It's pathetic.

  • @gregvsn it is probably because you don't have the brain to analyze anything.

  • @MrDefq right.

  • Too bad they can't show all this in the ad, I didn't get that original ad, and thought it was completely CGI!

  • i wonder what they done to the vehicles after the commercial? "Oh these are broken now, ummm here guys have these for free!"

  • is it bad that i want this to fail?

  • seriously hollywood stars, etc famous people should buy a Lexus not an MB or Audi because this is proof that Lexus brands are just as good or better

  • @ninjamoto21 ...If they're just as good, why shouldn't they buy them?

  • @L4z1n3ss wait i mean better than those cars sorry

  • will the cars be on sale again ?

  • it just mean the nails r attatched really good not that the material is breakPROOF ...sad *))

  • If it is strong enough to do that, what about in a crash?

  • @BigBodyBenz420 material of bumper is prob plastic like others

  • I love this commercial

  • a VERY good test, would be to drop all of them and see if they turn into a pile of rubbles. if they dont, i'll go out and buy a lexus right now.

  • Doc, I think we went back in time! No, Marty, it's just a stupid black and white effect.

  • Hmm... so lexus cars' frame are made to withstand tension not compression.... hmmm.... i wouldn't want to be in it in a crash then. If i were to make a test to convince ppl that my car is strong, i would crush my car from both ends and see how much pressure it can handle before it starts to collapse on itself haha

  • @megamanxu

They're supposed to compress to absorb energy of crash.

  • @LapulgaPTY hahahahahahaah wtf!!!!!!!!!

  • My mom has the rx450h 2011

and I love it to drive it ;)

  • they should drop them.

  • Anyone with a sight comprehensions of physics and structural engineering would be able to really appreciate what they did here. 99% of the people posting here are your typical know it all youtubers .

  • @Budguy68 There is nothing physics involved though. I work with these cars on a daily basis and there is nothing different structurally. all I believe they did is increase the number of spot welds per vehicle. THis is nothing new to the automotive world fact it's been done to racing cars for millions of years. All you see here is a bunch phony's I did not have to go to usc for engineering to know how to improve the structure of a car either.

  • @Budguy68 It's so amazing. I was thinking about an audi or jaguar but i want the LS

  • Toyota/Lexus just had a major recall because of a fuel leak.

I bet the fuel tanks are empty because if they were full we'd see a puddle under those cars.

  • well they got all this crap done right, now make the car actually look good, i hate how lexus's look....the design is terrible, its like im getting another toyota

  • they prob have no engine no seats just the frames

  • I'm seriously hating these smart ass comments

  • @ZIJO1234 u copied someone in the leather commercial one... lol

  • what does putting like 5 cars on a chain hanging down prove? how strong the chain is? i dont understand...

  • lol they said there is no special effects... does the black and white count as 1? =p

  • Sinc my last massage got so much gramatical errers, i reposte thiz insted; "This commercial sucks."

  • If you don't understand the significance of this test, nor the physics behind it, don't comment. You just look dumb.

  • @JeremyandBilly this isn't even that complex of a concept. I am truly astonished to see the vast ignorance present in some of these comments... Glad someone actually understands what is going on here xD

  • This is an important experiment in case someone smashes into the rear end of your car... from the inside

  • @EFlip21 *favorite

  • when is someone gonna pull your car apart?

  • i would like to be in the first car haha

  • After being in honors physics, i can say that this is a whole lot less impressive than they try to make it seem. And i also like how they go walk around and touch the car when it is under all that stress in their test with the trucks pulling the car apart, thats real safe. And lastly, to the speaker at the end, "tension" isn't a big word, stop trying to sound like your smart and like this experiment is a remarkable feat.

  • @jwawc Well you said "your" instead of "you're" so yeah...

  • Comment removed

  • No one cares that you were in honors physics, and I'm sure the "physicists" (with college degrees and all) are still more than a little smarter than you. And it's unimpressive? They do stuff like this on a show called Top Gear, most cars would tear apart.

  • Comment removed

  • uh well is the car after the LS isnt a LS, the weight of 4 cars is on it, and if its less money, ill get that one =D

  • why is it in black in white?

  • I was more impressed by the results of the stress test, and even that doesn't mean much for two reasons: they didn't test other cars, and they didn't measure the chassis before and after the test, to see if it had stretched at all.

Nice idea but the execution could have been better.

  • @DMtactical take ur case to mythbusters and see if they can replicate it

  • Their trying so hard to be serious and critical about this experiment. It's not a big of a deal -honestly-I bet you Ford and other strong cars can also pull this off. They made this advertisement look like Lexus is the only car that can pull this off. Also i think his experiment was a big waste of money-it wasn't that cool-not impressed. But credit for the LFA-beautiful car.

  • dam.... LOL ALL AWSOME!!!

exept the cars are in re call right now LOL XD!

  • dam....

  • dam...

  • and yet their cars are on recall ryt now...

  • @flipboy913 That's right. No other car manufacturer has had a recall. GM doesn't bother to do a recall. They'll wait til a significant amount of people to burn up in a car before conducting a recall.

  • That is very impressive. I would have liked to see a comparison test with one of Lexus's competitors.

  • all of this for smooth-closing doors and a working sunroof?

  • 3:30 with captions on: "and you know the shsics of salad..." yes, salads have physics.

  • Is black and white really necessary?

  • the safety glitch in Lexus models took 4 peoples life in the past years....

when it comes to Safety Lexus do it THE HARD WAY....

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • dammit i dont get get it again.... but the LFA is awsome

  • im probably not the first one to say it but, so what?

  • I want to work for Lexus!!

  • @hydrolisk1792 Me too.......but how do you do that; you'd have to be a perfectionist in engineering! And yet I'm studying Mechanical Engineering right now, and I got C in both Calculus 1 and 2. I'm behind in my studies for Calc. 3.

How can one prepare themselves for an achievement like that? Thats like trying to make it into a sport team or something.

  • @755hp LOL, I know what you mean, engeneering is hard as it is. Trying to make it into the production @ Lexus is like trying to piss into a shot glass that is on a spinning record player, tied to a running cheetah's back while riding a unicycle blindfolded. :)

  • @hydrolisk1792 You know whats funny about what you just mentioned?? I bet you all of those moving factors you just mentioned can be put into an equation or formula (guess what). Even that is engineering (math and science) and its would be damn hard. - But I believe it can be done..........as long as the individual is in pursuit of their own perfection in life.

  • @755hp Nice, lol, I knew that you were going to say something like that :)

  • @hydrolisk1792 Well, about 10:00am today I called Lexus and asked if they had any career opportunities. They told me that one would have to look on the parent company's website (Toyota), that opportunities would be listed there (if any).

I saw engineering positions for "engine calibration", "drivetrain engineer", "Chassis Design Engineer" etc. These positions require mostly a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (with 2-5 yrs experience).

    So......maybe it's possible!

  • @755hp Wow, so maybe there is hope out there :) That was cool that you called :)

  • The LFA is COMPLETELY overpriced for what it is

  • @Reaction92 A car is subject to wear and tear over time; it is only during that period of time that the rigorous test of true strength and performance is shown in a car.

Take for example, the Toyota Supra; no one (or very few) knew of the Supra's potential until at least 8 years after its production release (1993). And yet as time went on, the Supra's true strength and power-potential was realized.

I assure you......the LFA is more than what you see at the moment! Technology has advanced!

  • @755hp cool.

  • @jwawc yup.

  • @treefallingup did you not hear what they were saying? lol

  • Lexus.......they have become damn good at marketing their cars! They're reaching the minds of people not through special effects and computer tricks; but through science/math and its hard-cold facts!

Lexus is on a whole another level........only the best of engineers must work for Toyota-Lexus-Scion!

    Lexus - Legendary

    Toyota - Legend

  • Thumb up for an expensive car test, LS460...50kup+,,,,

  • these ads actually did make me want to buy a lexus.. if i had money.. well done

  • technology is advance such rate, we might just pull it off

  • If this didn't work they wouldn't have posted the video =)

    Sigh.

  • Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter

  • If you park your Lexus like that in New York City with the keys inside of it, thefts will have to go the hard way to steal it.

  • how is this even slightly relevant to the quality of the car?

  • After the first minute and a half they just start to repeat the same point.

  • "There IS no special effects..." says the one guy who's just paid to look good and not for his smarts.

  • @cdjred They did, and the only hung 4 cars to the chassis.

  • 4:02 Sniper shot

  • "The Hard way is the only way." Thumbs up if you were thinking: "Thats what she said!" ;-p

  • Am i suppose to buy one now?

  • I hate Lexus, Mercedes all the way!

Lexus-a company created to let Toyota flood more cars into the US.

  • What a pointless and unimpressive stunt.

  • And this is why there are so many recalls on Lexus and Toyotas

  • Still not as cool as the Honda Cog ad.

  • can i just say that.....that was an amazing way to plug in physics with the Lexus the only thing that i would want to change from it! is if i were the one who came up with the idea! :D lol great job on the car!

  • this is so funny

are you telling me that when the engineers designed the framework of the car, no solid mechanic calculations were made? what about the stress analysis, how much tension and stress it can take?

but no, we have the hang the cars in the air to test it.

I mean yeah cool commercial but ... wow this is funny

  • @blackmangoes

Despite all possible calculations, you never know what will happen when you do something silly like that. I would agree that it's really not that impressive from an engineer's standpoint (and definitely humorous), but it's still something that wouldn't necessarily end up how everyone expects, no matter what calculation and testing had been done previously.

  • @blackmangoes The ignorance in you. They tested the cars with those tests under NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. Maybe at most "worst case scenarios". Never would they have thought to test "Hey, can we hang 4 more cars behind it"? Thus why they had to do all these calculations and other precautions, and even then you can't be sure.

  • Screw the tests, I'll take one, for free of course.

  • You mean to tell me that we should be surprised that solid steel can hold just as much weight as the small cables used to lift up all 5 cars? Big Deal... show me a car that can't do this...

Anyhow... nice attempt at trying to get us to think of Toyota without thinking of the sticky accelerator scandal.

  • @mout12 What "small cables"?

  • @Raydude25 The thickness of the cables holding the cars from the crane is small relative to the thickness of the frame of a car. Considering that the cables hold the cars up just fine renders this demonstration completely unimpressive. Almost any car out there could handle that amount of weight.

  • @mout12 Do you not know Where they stuck those cables, or are you just skeptic till the end ?

  • @Raydude25 on the chassis.. aka, the frame of the car. a thick piece of steel.

  • @mout12 Negative. They stuck it on the suspension anchors. Not a thick piece of steel, good sir. ( 2:50 - 3:00 )

  • @Raydude25 The suspension anchor is a thick piece of steel that is a part of the frame of the vehicle. The suspension anchor is not bolted onto the frame.

  • at like 3:15 i would lol so hard if the car breaks in two while the guy it talking about it

  • impresive

  • the hard way is the good way

  • So, what's next?? put this car back at the dealer's lot??

  • ...My mind is blown.

  • I think I know why they chose to hang is250s instead of 4 more LS

  • The hard way is how do we get them down?

  • If the cable can hold the cars, the chassy better hold it. Lexus is just making the obvious, seem like a unique miracle.

  • "you can never relax around those cars." well that sounds promising! xD

  • they don't show how they got the car(s) to stand on end. I know they didn't drag/scrape them on their bumper?! Behind the scenes wasn't enough behind the scene. I call BS. lol. I own a 03' LS btw. I love everything about it.

  • @easolo3 Uh... I'm assuming the uh.. you know, crane? There's a fun thing where if the crane is offset to the car when lifting (I.E the cable tension is above the car, not in front of it) it will go straight up. That, and I'm sure they used one or two jacks. (Look at 4:07 , you'll see.)

  • maybe thats why the ls is so expensive

  • The cars are probably gutted.

  • insane!

  • Whyyyy did they not take that car to the breaking point... :/

  • well hell, better go out and buy a lexus

  • What camera/equipment are they using at 1:38 in video? Anyone know?

  • SICK SONG. What is the name of the song in this clip???? SOMEONE PLZZ TELL ME

  • and kids, this right here..is the car that you're looking for :)

    Toyota Technology <3

  • They should try this same experiment with a Ford Pinto.

  • @sungwei9 hell no Lol that thing weights like 3 Ton xD

  • what does this prove? caterpillar machines are well built and this is the best way to test a crane =))

  • @lunaralan it proves frame strength for each individual car expectially the top car

  • Comment removed

  • @TheCrazyCoasterKid Dude, it's a joke. It's not like I don't understand what they're saying -_-
