Go back to Genesis 15 about how Abraham thought that Eliezer(a gentile) would be the one to inherit his estate since he had not a son. in Luke 16:19-32 the Jews of Jesus day were rich for they have received centuries of spiritual blessing as God's chosen people. In Jesus parable here we see the roles reversed. The Jews are now missing out on the kingdom.

If you take the the parable of Lazarus and the Rich man literally how can we possibly enjoy ourselves in heaven when we can see people being tormented in flames? Maybe even our loved ones. Remember also that this comes on the tailend of 6 consecutive parables on stewardship.

@whatthehellbook NOW for what I believe. Jesus does show LOVE as HE died on the CROSS to make salvation open to all who will Truth in HIM & Believe all that HE says to us in the Bible. He came the 1st time to demonstrate that LOVE. but the 2nd coming is to carry out HIS WRATH against those who refuse to Trust HIM, Believe HIM & Put all their Faith IN HIM. HIS WRATH will JUDGE ALL who refuse HIM & send them to the LAKE OF FIRE which is FOREVER as described many times N the Bible-U SHOULD READ IT

@MPPFLIPP You've got it all figured our brother. Except for one thing: LOVE. The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. None of your responses reflect these and you are being led by a spirit- but not the Holy Spirit. Also, Revelation is an apocryphal book. You cannot base a doctrine on a book that is full of dramatic language and imagery. Plus, none of the verse you listed advocated eternal punishment.

@MPPFLIPP The Scriptures say His love & mercy endure forever, over 40 times. If His love & mercy doesn't endure to the afterlife then the Bible lies and gives false hope. @N2truth7 Psalm 103:8-10- The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.

Isaiah 54:7-8- “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great compassion I will take you back. In a burst of anger I turned my face away for a little while. But with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord, your Redeemer.
It's pretty clear, God will not stay angry at anyone.

As I said before, you cannot discern between passages that are written to believers and ones that are not. No wonder your "theology" is so confused. If you're going to apply all scripture to everyone then you have many problems in store.

@whatthehellbook See, Romans 8 is great chapter because it is addressing believers aka the elect. Paul then goes on to make distinction between the elect and the unbelieving people. You seem to not be able to make that distinction yourself.

If you don't like sectarian debates, then stop coming up with new sects. I dont agree with everything John Piper says, but Piper is a good Christian...the same kind of Christian Paul the Apostle was. Rob Bell on the other hand, sounds like a Joel Osteen "feel-good" time.

Yeah this is supposed to make us understand that we aren't supposed to be fighting Christ, nor each other. This is the way God seems to be working things, though. He knows all things, so we know that God wants us to fix peoples understandings who go against Christ and the Gospel. All with His word and our prayers to Him. We need the Holy Spirit to understand the Bible, which only comes through salvation.
