No need to knock the 6-speed Hydramatic with all clutches and no bands as it's a tad quicker than the manual. You cannot shift as fast yourself, even with the auto's paddle shifters. And I agree that a number of Caddies have great build quality, but it's damned hard to compare the Allante to the CTS-V. Wasn't the Allante front wheel drive? And didn't it have less than half the power of the CTS-V?  Regardless, I do think it represented a turning point for Cadillac.

CTS-V is more of a daily driver car though... it doesnt bottom out as much. It rides perfectly smoothe. You can take a turn at 60 and not feel like your in a rocket ship but feel like your still going in a straight line. but performance wise... its very obvious whose winning. i can also see a CTS-V being a lot more handy in all 4 seasons than a vette that you usually only drive in the summer.

Foolish people think 90K GTR is the road course king and 99.9999% will never see a track. That is great for magazine racing or conversation on youtube, but this is closer to reality. People bring all kinds of Vettes, with a large range of mods and performance. Stock C4 "fantastic plastics" that barely run to brand new Z06s and race prep cars. The thing they have in common is that every single one is driven hard. A Corvette is a pure sports car, I would love to see somebody bring a GTR and beat on it
