  • nice stuff!!!!

  • Quick question. What type of gloves is Matt using? I used to train with Matt and loved those gloves he had and I'm looking to buy some but I can't remember the brand.

    Thanks!

  • Hey noguns!

Nice to see a felow GNNer who trains. I have a couple years of muay thai and shotokan under my belt. If we're ever in the same area, we should train together.

    Peace!

  • Word, Tango! That would be dope. Although I'm never on GNN anymore, I still count you in the top 5 people I've never met in real person that I'd like to!

  • real good wing chun, especially the chi sao at beginning, but you really would not be able to defend against my hook, trust me, I feel wing hcun does have weakness, really, i mean be honest dont lie, if you ever been in a real fight you no some many things are aginst you. as fast jab or back fist will beat you to the block, and a hook will collapse a tansau,

  • Actually, a Tan Sao can defend against a hook punch if you know how do apply it. Just look at the video, he DOES apply it correctly. What video are you looking at?? Perhaps you should spend more time training to learn how to make wing chun work for you. And also go back to grade school to work on spelling and grammer.

  • I see. Well look forward to more videos then.

  • Is that sparring or a demo?

  • Demo in the sense that we agreed to defend against wide hook, jab, cross, front kick etc.

Other than that, 100% WYSIWYG. Even got the headache to show for it.

  • awesome! you always put nice background music on these things.

  • nice stuff!!! Keep up the good work

  • It is easy to hit someone that only has a single attack in mind. Throw one punch and take it!? I can hit really hard to when the opponent only throws one punch or one kick from 6 feet away. Don't be apprehensive when attacking. Even if you are going to be hit in the first action, throw the second punch. I know this is demonstrative, but as the attacker, mentally put yourself in the second action even if it will be cut off.

  • You're absolutely right. If you look closely, there are second punches attempted in there - they just get cut off quickly. I seriously promise that we had 'hit' in mind when doing this, despite what it may look like.

  • Honestly, being one that has been in front of several hard punches myself, I see only one time that a second punch is attempted and it slowed the impact of the action. All the others look apprehensive. Hard not to be when you know whats coming, I know. Just an observation and not a reflection on skill or an attempt to demean. Everyone walks there own path but once in a while I throw out an opinion.

  • Oh, no worries man. In truth, I'm always apprehensive about trying to hit my sifu :)

  • Gosh, and here I was under the impression that the whole point of Ving Tsun was to block and attack together, and then keep attacking, not stand there and exchange blows with the guy. What the hell have we been doing this whole time, guys? Well I guess that settles it: Nogunri, when we get to class Monday I want us to to stand across from each other and punch each other in the face. Because Lord knows every fight I've ever used my Ving Tsun has gone *exactly* like that.

  • Thats one funny response my friend. What conversation are you reading? I was having a honest conversation with nogunri, sharing an observation and a way to make the training more viable. No matter what your skill level, more than one punch will be thrown in a fight so why not train with that intent? If there is anyone you can throw realistic punches at it should be your sifu. He should have the most skill and should be able to react. Nogunri, sorry did not want to make this a pissing match.

  • We do train with that intent. Problem is, when you're actually getting punched in the face, it really takes the mickey out of your second punch and follow ups. That's, once again, the whole point of Ving Tsun. And as someone who has been punched in the face *several* times by Nogunri, I can honestly say he throws so-called "realistic" punches (whatever that even means to you.) And this is not a pissing match, you're just being asked to be responsible for your claims. Sucks, doesn't it?

  • Chill out keyboard cowboy. No one has made any accusations on skill or punching ability. Only intent as a training partner. You want honest reactions, yes? Then throw like you are in a fight. If I am not mistaken nogunri made the statement that, yes, sometimes he is apprehensive in throwing punches at his sifu, understandable, yes!?. This conversation was about intent, not skill or # of punches thrown. So stop taking offense to a conversation that had no malice intended.

  • Only apprehensive as much as one would be attacking someone they KNOW can rip their arms off and beat them with ;)

  • Exactly my point. I can understand the apprehension. Thanks for understanding my point bro.

  • what u think there real punches u ever been in a real fight?u can c the guys pulling away as he throws them watch out here it comes

  • I think it's probally because everytime he throws a punch, he get's his head punched in

  • As much as I hate acknowledging ignorant keyboard warrior remarks, it should be pointed out that it's easy to criticize a punch when you're not standing in front of it.

  • good song choice. and that guy being demonstrated on must be tough because he was taking those friggin hits like a wing chun warrior. good times.

  • what up Matt--Billy Johnson here in Florida (Sifu Damianos friend/student). That was a frickin punch. I dub thee 'mask cracker'. Ha. Take care bro. Keep up the fight!!

  • I seriously never get tired of watching this thing.

  • looks ok but maybe u should get the guy to throw proper punches at u not pansy ones
