Open carry just hurts our cause. If you have a Conceal Carry License then just keep it concealed. 1. It keeps the bad guys wondering just who is armed and who isn't. 2. It brings attention to yourself by all the people who do not like guns and that vote and then will fight to have this right taken away. Some states do say if you open carry and make people feel intimadated is illegal. A reasonable person should feel suspicious if someone is walking around with a gun on their hip.

I believe (I live in Mi.) that Mi. law states that it is considered "Open Carry" UNTIL you climb into a vehicle or onto a motorcycle.... Once in a car or on a motorcycle it IS considered "CONCEALED" whether or not it can be seen....

So the first patrolman says if you have a CCW then you MUST carry concealed. So by his reason to keep people from open carry they should issue CCW's to everyone? A CCW just gives you the option. The open carry movement is not just about exercising rights, but also education. Send the appropriate information and your intent to open carry to the appropriate offices in advance, by certified mail. Carry the information on you.

The reality is that patrol officers are not educated on this issue. So deal with reality and do your part to educate in advance. If then you are harrassed, educate through court action. Departments learn quickly when their lawyers frown.
