Were you ever able to find out what was wrong exactly? I have a Satellite L675 and it does something like this, but instead of flickering wildly, the black bar will be approx. 1/3rd of the screen high from the bottom edge, and slowly reduce in size during use.
@cllyde That sounds similar to what mine does at times. I have no clue what it could be. I took it in to get it fixed this past summer and the LCD screen was replaced. The problem was fixed for two weeks and came back, getting progressively worse. Then, over the past couple weeks its been worked on again; both the hard drive and monitor were replaced. I picked it up yesterday, the problem is already coming back. Honestly it's probably safe to say that I'll be avoiding Toshiba from now on.
