Could I keep a hippo tang in a 90 gallon because Im upgrading my biocube just so I can keep tangs and other fish that are colorful but get big ( big as in less than a foot long)
@urwack123 not for salt for salt its like 5.5 gallons per inch of fish and even then its 3 gallon per inch of fish would you but a 90" fish in a 90gallon no.
@MrMatizusk , We generally reccomend a tank of at least 100 gallons for the Hippo Tang, as they get quite large. A 90 gallon tank may be large enough for a small specimen for some time, but it will eventually outgrow the tank in a couple years. Most tangs will get fairly large, and are open water swimmers and grazers, the larger the tank the better off they will be.
@MrMatizusk in my (and the majority of others) expert opinion, NOTHING under 70 gallons is advised, but people will be people and you'll see some in 55s and 40s. The IDEAL size is the ocean and always remember that.
what the hell is wrong with people??? If you think this fish will live in a 1.5 gallon tank or in freshwater at that then you dont need fish at ALL! no wonder people kill their pets!
I agree. I used to work in the aquatic industry, and the ignorance I faced on a weekly basis was incredible. If it were my shop, I would have lost customers rather than have them treat fish badly. It's as bad as someone wanting to put carp in a 100 gallon pond. They may look small and cute now, but they grow up to 3 feet long. Common sense is lost on some people. Although I love the film Finding Nemo, it has a lot to answer for!
Your right people watch the film and think they can keep them but it takes ALOT of money and ALOT of work to keep up with a saltwater tank! We have grass carp in our pond thats 6' long they are huge!
help! I'm thinking of getting an azoo palm filter! I'm thinking of putting one in an 1.5 gallon tank with my male betta. or one in an 2.5 gallon tank with 2 goldfish. or, should i put one in both! Please reply back or comment on my channel!
2.5 gallon with 2 goldish? you msut be a f****** idiot, goldfish are very messy fsh and grow realy large, 10 gallon per goldfish, do your research before geting a tank.
we got ours for free! our maintainer couldnt find 1 and he had this 1, but it had just got over ich and had scratches on his face, so he said he would give us this 1 is he couldnt find 1, and he didnt, its been doin great and weve had him for about 3 weeks and is about 3 inches long
Hippo/regal tangs are one of our favorite fish! I have raised a baby regal tang from That Fish Place from one half an inch to the size of 7 inches. Unlike other fish, this fish would not hand feed with any ogher human other than myself until tank age of 2 1/2(tank age). Regal tangs are very intelligent, unlike their cartoon betrayal. It is significant that this fish can recognize individuals, and refuse food from strangers unless a trusted friend is within sight.

That tang looks unhealthy. Pinched in the stomach like it is not getting enough food. Looks like it is in the ocean though not a tank. Weird.
