I am gonna buy this album. I am a major Jill Scott fan, so her beef with Hidden Beach is not gonna change the fact that I dig her and her music. It's out, so I'm gonna buy it. In regards to "The Light of the Sun", it is a bad ass peice of work. The incorporation of hip-hop artists (Eve, Paul Wall, Doug E. Fresh) into her latest seeks to broaden her fans. All of the songs with rappers - especially the tracks with Eve and Paul Wall - were on point. Now if she begins to do it too much. Naw.

I will cop this cd, because I am a follower of the brilliant. I beg to differ with some. The light of the sun is an excellent body of work. She proved that she is not one dimensional.. You can't always expect the same, I mean it's a diff cd. She is at a diff time in her life. What is she suppose to be the same artist she was on Who us Jill Scott? At this point we outta know who she is... I certainly do, and the Light of the Sun is not what I expected, it's so much more! Can't wait for this one

The problem Hidden Beach has is that they seldom actively promote any of their artists, even when Jill was their biggest name. Now they don't have her to promo this CD. I wonder how sales will go even though I think it will be good product.

She should have a LOT more Grammys, or at least for her first 2 or 3 CDs. As far as soul/R&B is concerned, she should have cleaned up like Michael Jackson did in 1983 or '84. I have seen Alicia Keys, India Arie, and other non-R&B singers win Grammys for music that, compared to Jill Scott's music, seem mediocre and undistinguishible. Jill Scott is modern day Re-defintion of SOUL far beyond most any other artist. I try to look for other artists like her, but they always come up short.
