  • I bought one of these new in 1977! Awesome recording quality - I still have CR02 recordings from my high school band made on the unit and they are top quality.

  • The Kwolity is unbelievable

  • for the money that's insane. they thought of everything even the output for you ipod!

  • I Don't Know What ISS iss!

  • Great review I can't believe you get some Cuban radio stations, at least that's what the voice said....great boombox!

  • The guy who sold me the HP 319 has the same boobox as yours,he told me he bough from the cassette master,he must misunderstood.

  • Did you sold this boombox to anyone? or do you still have it?

  • Still have it, but not for sale.

  • i have one that look yust like that but mine is a Sanyo.

  • I'm glad u like it. Congrats man!!

  • Very nice piece like the level meters best

  • ISS switches the FM sensitive radio. you can use it to reduce that little pink noise that appears because your radio station is too far from you

  • It's funny how, starting in the late 1980's, boombox manufacturers started to compete on price instead of sound quality. The sound quality of most boomboxes deteriorated. Sony and Panasonic were two of the only manufacterers that made good-sounding boomboxes in the late 80's and still do today.

  • lol, so true. i got me some panasonic stereo headphones and a sony mini hifi shelf system! gooooood stuff.

  • It's nice to know the unit can use different voltages, becuae we use 240 volts here in Australia. Most of the things you review can only accept 120 volts, which I think is a shame.

  • Great vid! My girlfriend bought a cf-570L for a very small price on ebay as a christmas present, i love it and use it almost everyday! Do you know if there is any difference, between our two models considering yours has an S at the end of its name and mine has an L?

  • Sony always made the best stuff!

  • and they still do man!!

  • Wow! That is amazing quality. I love the sound level moniters!

  • At 06:51, it said "Magic 105", it's somewhat of a coincidence that there is another radio station in Detroit called "magic" using "105" as part of the frequency prefix.

  • the tape is old , now i use only cds

  • Besides, I use MP3 players, Whenever I cannot directly connect them to a stereo, I use a cassette adaptor, or FM transmitter, because radio music sucks nowaways.

  • Some of these old boomboxes had enough input and output jacks , controls and meters to be used as portable recording studios.

  • You should be grateful these boomboxes have line-in jacks, because they enable MP3 players to be used with them.

  • Nice Boombox I bought a seiko MX-1 boombox with detachable 2 way speakers it needs Deoxit and a good cleaning and some pillow stuffing in the speakers to smooth out the bass response.

it is bassy but the pillow stuffing will make it sound more natural.

  • ISS= International Space Station

  • MW stands for medium wave

    LW stands for long wave

    AM stands for amplitude modulation

    FM stands for frequency modulation

  • I scooped up this same model from my local thrift store for $8. All it needed was a brand-new belt to function like new again. Very awesome radio!

  • AWESOME!!! Will you make a vid of it?

  • Sorry, I don't have it anymore. I sold it a week after I restored it (got a lot for it, too!)

  • I like the way it looks! and sounds

  • Wow!! Now that is quality!

    Nice one :)

  • Wow, what a nice quality cassette recorder and weapon. Liked the demo, and since it is a SONY it should work for many years. If you can't tell I LIKE SONY EQUIPMENT!

  • Weapon???

  • Yes, all these videos of all this wonderful audio equipment has awoken my BUYITNOW brain.

So it is an economic weapon. But seriously, I can not express how much I am enjoying finding people who appreciate this equipment and the very fine technology of the passed. AA5

  • I guess that what AllAmericanFiveRadio is saying is those old school vintage boomboxes were so big and heavy that they could very well used as weapons to knock somebody's lights out, or maybe it's an instrument that could be used in hip hop battles (music competitions).

  • wow! that is a awesome hi-quality machine. it looks like late 70's.

  • I found that AFC is Automatic Frequency Control.

I couldn't find anything about the ISS though.

  • Holy crap, if I tried to carry that thing around on my shoulders I would fall!

  • By the way, maybe you should have posted this vid before the one showing the inside of it.

  • Wow. Nice big old boombox. Looks like very early 80's.

  • Nice boombox man. I wish i could find some of this stuff you do.

  • THAT QUALITY IS AWESOME!!!!!! I give you 5 rating stars!

  • You got quite a good bargain!

  • Yep what SONY was quality. It is indeed a large item, reminds me of the 80's with guys walkin' around with them on their sholders hehe... SONY always got their EQ/BIAS settings correct with the correct tape formulations. Ricky, did you say if it had any noise reduction or not?

  • It has no noise reduction:(
