@Aariin it depends on what version and retelling you study. I studied that he was the son of Odin (loki) but never that he and Thor were brothers. But I guess the most common one is that Loki's parents were giants.

they basically took norse names and infused them with japanese culture.i did some research and it was actually loki whose supposed to be king of gods but was cheated out of it by odin and thor.im guessing that since that happened loki became bitter and immature.but now that he is free to do as he pleases he sees no point to continue this sort of behavior thus acting as he does now.does that help out any1 anymore questions just p.m me whenever u get the chance.

@livingtonu Because the hammer is in disguise as a sword. The hammer just takes the form as a sword to blend in. It'd be weird if someone was walking around with a big old hammer around. A wood sword people would guess he had kendo practice or something and would attract less attention.

Bear in mind that in Norse Mythology, as originally intended, Loki was less an antagonist and more the person who would often do what none of the others would due to societal taboos and the like in order to preserve the balance. Also...just remember that this is an anime... and it takes something of less creativity to play by the books entirely. Also...he did trick someone...was the mannequins not a trick?

It's because of the course of western civilization. Japan was supposed to be the center of western civilization at this time so most attributes of the gods got transfered into a diolog as well as annimation. Technically narugami could survive without a part time job if odin helped him out but it would be less obvious if he had a ton of pert time jobs instead.
