  • it happened to Geelong in 2011 and the better team still came out on top.

the uploader obviously doesn't like Geelong so he can be a sore loser and go fuck himself.

  • stupid video

  • If they were defeated by that error, then they're a pretty crap team...

  • @yeonjskevincats no geelong were actually extremely good, and so were we. the error gave them a 5 point advantage in a game that was won by 12

  • you're kidding yourself, yes u keep repeating that ur not a saints supporter, then ur simply stupid and have little knowledge of the modern day football. Yes this was called a goal, when it shouldve been a behind. But on the other side, the umpire did pretty much give another goal to the Saints, when it really shouldve just been a free in the centre. And if uve watched this years GF, that was even worse, but either way Geelong won by more than a goal both times so you cant blame that for the GF

  • how can you blame the umpire for the saints utter capitulation in the final quarter? if you cant even kick a goal in one quarter of footy how do you expect to win a grand final????

  • The winner is GEELONG!!!!!

  • Whingers ... you see the same thing happened against Geelong vs Pies in 2011 and they stopped whinging and went on to win the game. Not the sooky moaning St Kilda! Whinge whinge whine whine ... lalalalala

  • @GurgMaster the difference in 2011 is geelong one by a favourable margin, in 2009 geelong won by 12

  • Every goal umpire who ever set foot on a football field would 've paid that goal. There was no way he could've judged it any other way, virtually no deflection and continued spinning exactly the same way off the boot. The Saints lost for other reasons and what about that BS free kick and double goal against Milburn? That was deadset cheating by the umpire!

  • If it makes you St.Kilda supporters feel any better, always remember the legit Cameron Mooney tackle on Raph Clarke in the 2010 Qualifying Final that was paid against Geelong and cost them the game.

  • I'm a sants supporter and I don't blame this decision for the loss (I blame the countless opportunities we wasted). But it makes me sick when decisions go the wrong way and aren't reversed after being reviewed. It's like no one gives a shit whether the rules are enforced or not. We alway say things like "what happens if it happens in a grand final and changes who could have won a premiereship?". Well, now it has happened and no one cares. 'Twas a sad day for Australian Rules.

  • GEELONG CATS - PREMIERS 2009.

  • wow, bit sore? You guys got given a goal later because Milburn said the word 'Twice'. And we won by 12 points anyway.

  • @toohey119

not a stkilda supporter, but the free kick against milburn wasn't an error like the tom hawkins one was.

an asterisk for the 2009 flag.

  • @anobody911 see thats funny because I could swear the record books say Geelong won the 2009 Flag

buddy, we won by 12 points. Umpiring decisions go both ways. This happened in the 2nd quarter. Cop it.

    Go you Catters

  • @anobody911 The free against Milburn WAS an error since he did nothing wrong. The goal umpire was out of position, understandable too, he would have just finished waving his flags, the ball kept spinning as normal so the umpire had to make a split second decision, it was wrong but understandable, unlike the free against Milburn which made no sense. Also, same thing happened this year with Wellingham, only the umpire was in position an still didn't call it but we came back to win so stop sooking.

  • @mozzaman92 were u watching the game mate? milburn jumped into gwilts back, pretty sure thats a free....

  • @eliswart Not the initial free, the one that followed and resulted in a double goal

  • @anobody911

I don't see an asterisk anywhere. All I see is Geelong: Premiers 2009

  • think about the umpire though, he was on the goal line and there was no way he could have seen it hit the post. I agree it should've been changed when they saw the video replay. But dont forget about Milburn giving away two goals because he talked back to the umpire. In my view that cancels out this goal.

This vid was clearly made by an upset St Kilda fan. Well is doesn't get any better after 2009. You lose 2 more grand finals in 2010

  • Geelong won by 2 goals anyway..?

  • @liltwang True. But what if they had won by less than a goal. Could you still justify their win then? If not, what would happen? A rematch? Unlikely. Some say the free later on against Milburn made up for it. Is that a rule? That you have to make another bad call in order to make up for your previous bad call? Do you even realise how fucking retarded that sounds?

  • @Trixilver but they didn't, so relax

  • @liltwang I'm asking if you could justify their win if it was by less than a goal - not saying they did. Notice that I began my last comment with "true".

  • The Cats stuck with the Saints for the whole game and dominated the scoreboard when it mattered, the 4th Quarter. To say the Saints lost over this umpiring decision is stupid.

It would've been very hard for the umpire to tell if it hit the post anyway.

  • Yeh sure.... thats why stkilda lost.... must be it....

  • Lets not forget the 'demonstrative behaviour' free goal before half time. Have a whinge you bunch of heartless sooks, oh and while you're at it how's that trophy cabinet looking? Pretty empty huh?

  • how did it fucken win us the final it was in the second quarter and the fucken shit saints still led. fucken idiot just becuse the cats can win finals and games

  • haha thats not why they lost dumbass

  • It's only blatant in the replay. Imagine being the umpire, and the roar of the crowd as Hawkins smothered the ball; even before he kicked it. It's not surprising why the umpire did what he did. Anyway, right before this Milburn 'gave away'' a dodgy piece of shit free kick that handed the saints a goal from the umpires arse. This was the square up

  • The only good thing Hawkins has been good for in his career to date.

  • It seems foolish to think that if the umpire had awarded a point, not a goal, St Kilda would've had a better chance at winning. 1; The St's lost by 12 points, not less than 5. 2; The play would have restarted from the goals not the center, which would have greatly effected the next passage of play and therefore the game. 3; from the position of the goal umpire it is going to be very hard to spot a deviation in depth. 4; The question should be why did St's let him have the goal so easily.

  • hahahaha - milburnes goal was touched on friday night, wasn't it? the challenge saints - hahahaha, they got challenged over the summer and she was only 17

  • I can't understand that in a PREMIERSHIP match THIS close the umpire was not given any form of a replay...? that is just insane. and had it been a behind, which it clearly was, the entire game would have changed. for one, the ball would reset in st kilda's possession rather than being bounced in the centre. the 12 point victory obviously means nothing when you incorrectly call and/or fail to enforce the rules of the game.

  • HAVE A CRYYYY

  • it would only have mattered if geelong won by 5 points or less

  • Deal with it. Geelong woulda won anyway.

  • Get over it anobody, the saints will win the flag tomorrow anyway. Collingwood are your bunnies

  • Yeah Geelong still would have won even if that was a behind.

  • @blisterfa507 goals during matches change mindsets

  • let me guess you go for the saints? yep thats right. geelong would've won anyway.

ps- THAT WAS LAST YEAR GET OVER IT!!!

  • the 'double goal' awarded to the saints evened up that goal umpiring error

  • @leisurelydinner rules say you cannot abuse the ump, dumbshit tried to cheat and the ump correctly gave a free.

  • @leisurelydinner yeah but the saints double goal was atucally correct, although the rules should be changed, if u swear at an ump its a free kick, and kozi's goal before hand was't touched, if u watch carefully the ball hits milburn's hand and then he falls over and then the ball hits kozi's boot.

  • Eat a dick cunt, we fuckin flogged ya

  • The Umpires cost us the 08 gf the least they could do is let that slide

  • @damosimo11 wtf the umpires cost u the 08 grand final??? Ur the biggest fuckwit i have ever seen, cam mooney cost u the 08 grandfinal.

  • @zomeza12 The game was on last night if u can see the shit Geelong coped that game ur a cockhead buddy and u need sum glasses

  • @damosimo11 You are just making shit up, u cant even give an example dickweed

  • @zomeza12 #rd quarter Franklin chucks Scarlett to the ground, not even close to the ball and dew snaps that goal. And also the rushed 11 points u dickhead hardly mooneys fault he missed 1 sitter but its a bloody Grand Final no1s perfect dickhead

  • @damosimo11 Yeah but scarlett fell over in the 2nd and got a freek kick, so that cancelled it out. Yes i remember that one, but if that is the only one u can think of then u are dreaming, the game was over then hawthorn were 4 goals up in the 3rd, in the 09 gf hawkins phantom goal was when scores were level in the 2nd. Also he missed two sitters each side of half time, i think mooney's a good player but those shots were critical, and 11 rushed points, but geelong still didn't convert shots.

  • @damosimo11 Also one free kick when 4 goals up doesn't cost game, ottens ran into an open goal and missed, mooney missed 2, stokes and chapman wern't fit, i'm not saying geelong werent good enough to win, but come on the umpiring was fair, even check the free kick count!

  • @zomeza12 Yeah Geelong had more but the ones they didnt call cost us as well as a few bad misses

  • @damosimo11 Ur still a fuckwit, how the fuck do i need glasses, i watched the entire 08 GF, remember when scarelett fell over and got a free kick, or when camoeron ling got caught with the ball, but it was play on, ur a fucking retard mate, go sick a dick

  • the better team won on the day

  • The cats won by 12 points - therefore the decision made no difference. Cats would have still won by 7 points. St Kilda also had a 50m penalty which gave them an easy goal.

  • @aflumpire23 wtf no they didn't, they got a free in front of goal cos milburn said some stuff to the umpire.

  • Cry more.

  • hahahahahaha - stuff em - clinton jones goal was touched anyway! milburns two pots call was a joke in itself too. a goal for that.

  • @DDFC2009 it was not!

  • Looking for excuses l think. The Milburn free which gifted the Aints a goal was the most pathetic free in grand final history. Or was it the free against Scarlett which resulted in a goal. Why would you put this on youtube if you dont barrack for the Aints?

  • Big error no doubt. Geelong would still have won by 7 points if it were given a point.

  • @bennyg44 nah, cos chapmans goal which came from the centre bounce, dircectly after that would not have happened, and then st kilda would have been ahead after the siren, and therefore they woould not have let max rooke kick that goal after the siren so easily and the pressure would have got to him and he would have missed it, so the saints would have won.

  • Suffer in ya jocks. It went straight through the middle anyway.

  • Suck it up Hodgepodge, your rabble couldn't even crack it for a spot in the finals so stop whingeing about the result. If I were you I'd be more concerned with how the fuck the Hawks are going to find enough improvement to play finals next year so they can begin the long journey back from being regarded as BRADBURY PREMIERS LOLOLOLOL...

  • If that error ridden clown Dawson had not had his kick smothered ......if riewoldt had not have had his kick smothered by harry.......if milne had kicked straight........if gram could kick both feet....if if if ....if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a merry christmas.....one premiership in 113 years and you are blaming umpires for your loss.you lost it because your players lost it. So there

  • I don't barrack for StKilda.

And it's not ifs and buts, you expect a poster to be counted as a behind.

Those 5 points would've been very handy come the final quarter and the entire strategy of the game would've been altered.

The most blatant umpiring error in GF history, and also the most costly.

  • @anobody911 I'm not a st kilda or geelong fan but this umpiring error was made up for by the ridiculous demonstrative call against milburn, which effectively gave st kilda a free 6 points compared to this 5 points.. if anything, an extra point should be added to geelong or removed from st kilda in the final score.

  • Geelong won because they performed better when it mattered, ie. the last quarter.

  • The game would've been over by the last quarter if not for the Phantom Goal.

  • Geelong were actually dominating untl the Milburn-Umpire debacle. Seriously mate, this video is so typical of a Saints fan. I might watch it again... and laugh! Then I'll watch the GF replay for the 56th time this summer. The cats seem to dominate more and more everytime.

  • @ablett295

I don't barrack for the Saints.

Your description of how you watch the game reeks of a stoner though. Thumbs up for that.

  • @anobody911 as if. geelong won fair and square and lets not forget the milburn goal umpire debarkle that led to YOUR HALF TIME LEAD....

  • @anobody911 well said

  • Wasn't the margin two goals?

  • The margin was two goals because the game was over when the final siren blew. Rooke had an uncontested shot after the siren when the players had all walked away . . .

  • Excuse me. Why are my responses being removed? Truth a bit hard to handle.

Hawkins scored either a point or a goal. Therefore when Rooke marked at the end Geelong's lead was either a goal or a point.

Geelong wins regardless of the outcome of Hawkins shot - or Rooke's for that matter.

  • I hit remove instead of reply. Don't flatter yourself with notions that I would veto your feather touch retorts out of fear.

StKilda would have been ahead for periods in the last quarter when they were behind because of the Phantom Goal. This would change their strategy completely, and the outcome of the game.

StKilda also went into halftime with a nice little lead. This would've been an even bigger advantage, and probably insurmountable given the low scores.

    Biggest error in GF history.

  • Don't flatter myself? Very funny. Shooting the messenger doesn't change the message.

St Kilda WERE ahead for all but the last five minutes during that fourth quarter. It was their inability to kick goals in that last term that cost them. In fact as the game progressed it was looking increasingly as though only one team COULD kick goals.

  • ....when Geelong were ahead at the final siren, which they still would've been even if the goal above had been paid a point.

  • @winty76

That's pretty irrelevant. If this error hadn't occured, the whole game changes.

  • Absolute disgrace. The AFL really are weak, this is a huge problem and they let the Umpire roam free.

  • Can't argue with you there. The media always talks about how they never want to see a premiership decided by an umpiring error. Well it's happened and nothing's been done.

  • Crazy umpiring mistake, we always worry about this shit happening in grand finals, and i t finally happened!
