You'd be surprised what a good recording system, expensive mike and additional reverb can do for a piece. That's the biggest reason why it's coming through weak. If you can record the piano (electronic) direct it will be better. The professionals always get the benefits of sounding good with the best equipment. I'd take some vocal lessons before spending that money though. A good teacher can show you how to get some power in the voice (without strain).
