It's your parents fault. The Russians, Ukrainians, Chinese,etc. speak their mother tongue and English. There is young singer named Lica de Guzman (born in Switzerland), she speaks fluent Tagalog, French and English. Her parents take her to Davao for their annual vacation. She mingles with local kids, sings to them and enjoys Chickenjoy.

American teenagers and perhaps children of Filipino descent who were born here, can hurl curses and insults fluently (?). Most of them are only good at that.

Me either, I am 17. I grew up in Hollywood, CA where is there's no other Filipino (except the halves) in my school until we moved to San Francisco when I was 13.

My mom is always talking to me in Tagalog since I was a child because she wants me to learn how to speak Tagalog so I won't be look stupid if we are vacationing in the Philippines (and Japan) which we always do every year.

That's why I have to speak 3 languages. English, Nihongo and Tagalog.
