They used to say Mr Lincoln we wish you were still here. Today we say Mr Reagan we wish you were here. However I fear we are a country spoiled by the freedoms we are blessed with like second or third generation millionaires. Lord grant us americans wisdom and discernment now more than ever.
I live in Hungary, a former communist country. Before 1989, the fall of communism, the Communist Party always told us that Reagan was a villain, a warmonger and a criminal. Being a little child, I believed the communist lies . But now , as an adult, I realized that President Reagan was one of the most brilliant statesmen of the world, someone who liberated Eastern Europe from communism without firing a single bullet. Eastern Europe will never forget you, President Reagan!!
@RisingStarOfKorea It truly takes hearing this from someone outside the box per say. Thank you for your kind words regarding President Reagan. He wasn't perfect. However, I will take someone half the person he was. I sure hope that we get someone with similar qualities soon. If not, I am not sure America will be around for long. Once again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same problems, same approach with Carter 2.0. We so need a man like Reagan with clear vision and clarity of purpose to step up and lead this nation back to greatness. RIP Ronoldus Magnus.
This speech could almost be given word for word today!!Which idiot republican said that the era of Reagan is over.If anything The Era of Reagan needs to make a comeback HEY OBAMA! ARE YOU LISTENING?!!!!!!!!!!
Fanaminal! He was a great president. Even though I ws only 11 months old at the time, I'm proud to have lived during the Reagan Era. I miss the 1980s.
Amazing how people have forgotten what he did for us.
These are the Ideals that the tea party need to have. Please don't rush to judgement on who our nominee is. I believed in 40th I no longer trust anyone in govt. This is our time, a time a for America to come back. I can not and will stand by and let this country destroy itself. Ronie said it all. Trust but Verify hello 44th
This speech reads like a very manifesto for the Conservative Movement. Just tweak all the references to the Soviet Movement (maybe with some references to terrorism), and you get a rallying call for the Tea Pary and the 9/12 Project!
More than ever, we need to find that person today. We will not find it in the candidates that are commonly polled. One will come out of the current tea party movement, that abhors government control, and will not be afraid to tear down the beaurocracy that has led us to an almost complete meltdown. Someone will come from this; and may he be strong and as of great wisdom and character that of Ronald Reagan. History is calling.
Little did anyone know that 10 years from the time this was recorded, The Berlin Wall came down and Communism was on its knees, 2 years later the USSR would fall. Landslide elections both times. We could sure use another president Reagan today with our current leaders who dont seem to get it, in fact history seems to be repeating itself. Hopefully 2012 can be another 1980
History will record that this man, Ronald Reagan, has done more for our nation than we give him credit even today. He is truly among the founders of our country, watching over this great experiment in human freedom.
Third party is not an option. Unfortunately we need to fight the blue blood repubs and take back the party to the party of Reagan, which targets the founding principles to meet today's challenges....and yes that is possible. We must expose these side line spit ball throwers such as CP and others who claim "big tent", similar to the way McCain would continuously say "earmarks" with little more substance. Articulate conservatism like the great Ronald Reagan...WE WILL WIN.
I cannot believe how similar this speech and these opinions reflect on todays America. This is a direct reflection on how completely ignorant liberal progressiveness destroys this countries fabric, because it is a direct spit in the face to our mistakes in history which we are now repeating. Unfortunately I don't think a person like this will be there to save this nation in 4 years.
Liberals have not changed. Republicans have become more like them. Sound too simple? It's true. Bush I strayed away from the conservative model guess what, he lost to the intern chaser and split votes with a populist with a crew cut. Unless we define a clear, articulate message to take on Obama and the other statists, we will continue to see defeat and our country will continue to slip away from the realm of freedom, liberty, and the rights of the individual. This message is so articulate.
How I long to see the coming of another great and true statesman who embraces American Exceptionalism and Rugged Individualism, and not another self-serving politician who wields Statism and Collectivism to control the Masses. Come 2012, a candidate that can follow the example set by Ronald Reagan will walk away with the election in a monumental landslide.
We have become a nation of wimps...essentially liberal democrat and democrat light political institutions. essentially statists and neo-statists, who willingly go the way of the statist, blurring the lines between the parties. conservatism is the key to defeating the statist, Reagan mastered this and won two landslides.
What a phenomenal man.

Many of the things said in this speech apply to Obama's America in 2011...Just as it did to Jimmy Carter's Presidency.
Once I researched O, back in early 2008, I knew he was another Jimmy.
I lived through those days and they were bad. Now is worse, much worse.
Loved Reagan then. Love Palin now.
We need clear thinking people in the WH.
The Carter and Obama WH have been the worst in our lifetime.
Palin can turn this around.

Talk of "excess oil company profits" these libs are older than Marx. Reagan knew how to defeat them. Where is our voice?

The 1st time I voted, I voted for Ronald Reagan. I remember that election vary well.
The Republican establishment didn't want Reagan to win. Bush was their man.
One Rep. Senator said he would support Carter if Reagan won the nomination.
Thay gave Reagan the full treatment. Extremist, etc. Reagan compromised by picking Bush as VP. Still, they had Republican turned Ind. Anderson run as
3rd party.
Now, they all claim to be Reagan Republicans. Where did they stand in 1979?
