  • I just have to say that existentialism and absurdism may be similar but are quite different

  • this guy is hilarious!

  • easiest to read? Get the hell out of there!! Have u ever read any other existentialist... or have u ever tried to read The Myth of Sisyphus?

Well buddy, t i can guarantee u to that camus is hard to read, of course if u are try to finish it all in one breath i have no words but if u aim to be inured it u have to pay attention and expend your mind energy.

At last , i feel debted to myself if i dont tell u that what is that sound(music)?

( Sorry for my english, thats all i have)

  • @LaGazzaLadra0 a) the myth of sisyphus is far easier to read than being and nothingness, and b) that music is common, as in the artist. to say that it's merely sound shows just how ignorant you are.

  • This video is absurd.

  • albert camus didn't consider himself an existentialist writer.

  • @kyledavidmorgan correct. but no true artist/philosopher fancies labels. nonetheless, we (as consumers of art and literature) use them to categorize such people. and since that's so, it's very difficult to say that camus' ideas don't fall under the same category as other existentialists.

  • I like his writing style also, down the line and no bullshit. The outsider being my favourite. good video.

  • Do you read Camus in French? You said you liked his writing style and i was wondering whether you read the original text or a translated english version.

  • @bobblobbychintapalli what's the difference? it's still the same message of isolation, indifference, revolt -- is it not?

  • @krounds12 Yes, it is essentially the same message but sometimes certain impressions or ideas get lost in a translation. I was just wondering about the writing style itself. There, the language obviously makes a huge difference.

  • I like it. Albert Camus is a good choice.

  • nice one!

  • holy shit, philosophy in da hood?

    dis nigga be crazy!

  • @hatefuIIkat that makes it all the more welcome and stereotype challenging.

  • alternalife blog com

    existential times

  • i am reading L'etranger in the original French; thus far has Provence to be most insightful existentialist novel ever.

  • It is a fantastic, cold read. Thumbs up to you.

  • thanks, i agree.

  • good job

  • I agree, Camus writes in a style that is accessible not for it's lack of depth, but for it's somewhat universal depiction of what existentialism provides for humankind. What is more natural in flavor is easier to consume.

  • @BARCACROSSESTHEALPS Yeah, that is what is nice about Camus. He is much easier to read than Sartre and especially Heidegger.

  • Nice video... thanks for posting this... 5 stars

  • I am a fan of Camus' work as well. I need to ask. In what way has absurdism influenced you? Has it inspired you to create your own meaning, or to live life without appeal?

Or with the 'outsider'. Does living life without hope or ambition make us live day to day with passion? Is it even possible to 'live for the moment'?

  • ATTENTION: Camus was Existential.

Despite what wikipedia, and quotes from the late great Camus himself, might tell you, Camus was an Ex. People have the tendency to believe if someone is incredibly gifted in one area (as AC was in writing) than they are gifted in all areas. Well, it may just happen Camus wasn't especially great at categorizing himself. Or, maybe he feared Absurdism would be used interchangably with Ex. so he distanced himself. Either way he was an Ex - and a great one at that

  • I think he (like Neitzsche) wouldn't want to label himself, with a label not created by himself.

  • fantastic stuff!

  • what's with the music in the background, it distorts the focus of what your saying.

  • Yeah, his style was very lyrical and poetical...

  • exactly exactly, sarte was just too damn academic for most of us while camus was accessible to everyone. good vid, dog.

  • Sad thing is that Albert Camus is nowadays in the shade of Sartre, Sartre is far more famous, but I do not think that deservedly

  • good job!

    El Bog

  • Camus was one of my biggest influences and inspirations. Great video. 5*

  • Camus wasn't really an existentialist though..

  • take music out, i wanna hear what you got to say

  • The Stranger (The Outsider) changed my life.

  • This is deep. Respect brother man.

  • is this a high school report?

  • @geoffhutch Lmaoooo hahaha oh shit that was too funny lol

  • @geoffhutch

he cant afford goin to skool. thats why he doin this shit in his white friend's house

  • @12theory people like you make the world a sad place. your attempt at humor failed. instead, you sound like an idiot.

  • @krounds12

ppl like u get trolled LOL

  • @geoffhutch does he look like he's in high school?

  • le mythe de sysiphe et le suicide , il ya peu de livres qu m ont donné autant a reflechir

  • Very cool(:; thank you for posting. I'm about to start reading 'The Plague' again; I'm looking forward to it.

  • Nice summary. Although, I DID have to watch this twice because the first time through I got caught up in the music. Haha, good stuff.

  • "There is but one truly serious philosophical problem, and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to answering the fundamental question of philosophy." -- Albert Camus

  • Post more videos! I totally agree with you on Sartre..he was an elitist who was obsessed with technicalities, and his philosophy was all over the map and full of contradictions. A philosophical text should be to the point, logical, and have things that people can apply to their everyday lives. And, like you said, no one has accomplished that better than Camus!

  • I totally agree with you.

  • Good summary.
