And now that I think about it, the irony is sickening: avoidance of drug references in a TV spot selling a drug (yes, alcohol) that ruins (and ends) more lives than all the others combined. Nice one, Fosters.

Fosters had the lyrics altered for the advert to avoid drug references, changing the phrases "strung out" and "high as a kite" to "hung out" and "fly like a kite" which strikes me as a pathetic example of corporate groupthink and avoidance of imaginary controversy. But even WORSE is the Violent Femmes (or their record label) agreeing to this travesty in order to make a quick buck. A sorry situation any way you look at it. My longstanding admiration for the VF has been shaken by this.

I think they did that to work in with the guy hanging on the shoulder of the other guy. If you listen to where the words are in relation to the ad they are so hung out, then there is stopped to check you out when he steals the ladies shadow etc
