The coyote assumed the pack remained the same, but these new leaders are far less noble than the previous. This really saddens me every time I see it. I remember watching this on the TV ("Valley Of the Wolves"). The pack had taken over from another which used to tolerate the coyote taking bits of the kill, and he would take it back to his mate. His mate then went on to have pups.
So really, you idiots think the coyote deserved to die when he was just trying to feed his mate? When she was carrying his pups? Stop treating wolves like they own the bloody world and everything in it.

and by your logic of how the ecosystem works, their should be NO animals 'weaker' then a wolf in any ecosystems wolves live in. No elk, no bison, no deer, no coyotes, no foxes, no bobcats, no weasels, no minks, no rodents, no arachnids, no insects, no plants, no bacteria.
And shoot, because of how weak wolves are compared to Cougars and Brown Bears, their shouldn't be any wolves because either of those species are 'more fit'.

Okay, yes, the coyote got screwed, but what is it with people saying that it didn't deserve it. This is the law of nature: survival of the fittest. The wolves secured a meal, the coyote tried to steal from their meal, so they killed the coyote. That's it!
Besides, I saw two coyotes kill a red fox for trying to steal their kill. Stop trying to apply human logic where it's inapplicable. This is just instict at play. JEEZ!
