DLR said in his book "Crazy From The Heat" the lyric was mumbled intentional. He was copying what old blues singers did. He felt this made the song more authentic. He said he don`t remember what the lyric was, but he believed it was "I`ve seen a lot of people just a lookin` for a moonbeam" As for the parts where he`s speaking this was when the media was in love with DLR and Microphones followed him everywhere.
