Just remembering my last trans-Atlantic crossing when I spent my birthday and 2 weeks on the Island of St. Helena. A great video to watch and better yet a fabulous place to visit... I wonder if Ann's Place is still there?
What an island, Donkeys and 5 times more women than men, whoohoo. I have slid down Jacobs ladder, thank God I was young and stupid, Had a blast . Enough said !!
Oh and by the way they can thank me for a clean island.
What an island, Donkeys and 5 times more women than men, whoohoo. I have slid down Jacobs ladder, thank God I was young and stupid, Had a blast . Enough said !!
anybody wants to represent beautiful St. Helena in an online music competition? would be cool to have anybody from this far away island! Fore more information see valnakinvision.webs.com, thank you!
@sthelena1 Sorry for chatting crap, my mind started wandering when I saw that tanker on the vid and after I'd earlier googled : St Helena, one of the results was about an oil spill there. Hope the place stays nice.
The Portugese didn`t have enoguh people to colonize all there nations, there top priority was to colonize Brazil and Angola, etc bigger coutnries not SH.
@sthelena1 The visit was tainted with sadness though. We had two St Helenian guys on board that had trained as police officers in Britain. On the morning of our arrival one of them committed suicide by hanging himself. I was on my way to the bridge to steer the ship into the anchorage and saw the panic as the skipper, chief mate and engineer were cutting him down. All very sad. We weren't allowed ashore until it had been confirmed that he had killed himself.
Thanks for this, I was there in 1983, I worked on the BP tanker British Esk, we had to take some St Helenians back to Jamestown from Ascension Island. Such great memories, everything from watching the local kids slide down jacobs Ladder to seeing Napolean's grave to not forgetting how welcoming the local girls were to a bunch of British sailors. I can honestly say, after having seen a lot of this world that the St Helenians are probably the friendliest people I have ever met.
@sthelena1 I)I am Portuguese, in past 600 years we were good navigators and discovered many places, but we did not have plenty of people at time to colonize all of them. we only had people to colonize Angola, Cape Verde islands, Brazil, Mozambique, Goa, Timor Leste. If you see in the map StHelen Islands is in front of Angola , also it is located at angolan Waters.
@sthelena1 II)continuation. Before 1975 Angola was clonized by Portugal, after 1975, Angola got independence from portugal, that means everything geographically in Angola, belongs to Angola. Read history, please.
@sthelena1 England stole from Portugal centuries ago, when Portuguese were colonizing Angola and Brazil, Geographicaly it belongs toAngola that is independent country from Portugal since 1975 look at map please and read history
@laton2010 How is it geographically belonging to Angola, that is like the US claiming Cuba is ours...and Cuba is way closer. Sounds like you are just mad your country of origin is full of a bunch of flapping Vagina.
@JefferySanders MY FRIEND, ANYONE HAS A POINT OF VIEW. I THINK SHOULD RESPECT PEOPLE INDEPENDENT WHICH COUNTRY IS. IF YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF FROM A BETTER COUNTRY THAN MY COUNTRY YOU SHOULD GIVE THE EXAMPLE FROM YOUR WORDS. YOU USED NONSENCE WORDS.
@JefferySanders ALSO IF YOU LOOK AT NAMES, ST, HELENA, TRISTAO DA CUNHA, ASCENCAO, IT ARE PORTUGUESE NAMES, NOT ENGLISH NOT SPANISH. PORTUGUESE COLONIZED ANGOLA AT THAT TIME. BECUASE THEY WERE STRONG NAVIGATORS AT THAT TIME AND THEY COLONIZED ANGOLA. THOSE ISLANDS PORTUGUESE DID NOT STAY FOR LONG. BRITISH WERE MORE INTERESTED IN IT.
@colonelcathcartcatch you mean England stole from Portugal centuries ago, when Portuguese were colonizing Angola and Brazil, Geographicaly it belongs toAngola that is independent country from Portugal since 1975 look at map please and read history.
when will the british goverment build an airport for St Helena, what are they waiting for, the island would become a tourist attraction and a boom to its economy.
this is a trip, I actually viewed this island from google earth and found the same pictures there, but my question is, what kind of professional people reside there, and is it seasonal living with limited food resources and how can I get to there from Houston, Texas?
I'm an Englishman, aged 47, who used to work at the Unigate factory in Scrubs Lane (Willesden, London) in the early 1980s. There were loads of saints working there in those days. Excelent Video !!!
Congratulations !!!
The Island certainly has a unique old British ‘atmosphere’
Ι hope that when the airport will be constructed , it will not loose its character….
It is one of my life’s ambitions and long term goals to visit St. Helena.
Perchaps by plane via Cape Town or London in the near future .
Greetings from Greece !!!

I remember a tanker washing it's tanks out at night off a Thai island 25 years ago. It killed loads of coral, fish etc and spoiled the beaches.
